The World Cup, one of my favorite sporting events because England always crashes and burns.

I have a good friend that is from London and he always acts as if it is England’s birthright to win the cup. It just never gets old when the enviable happens. I always remind him that England’s only Cup was probably the result of the absurd scheduling they got away with when they hosted the Cup.

Here's my question: kenbuzz, where the hell is the pool? And don't give me any of those faith, family, friends, country excuses!

Hoping to see Germany go back to back. Only wish I could watch it with family and friends over there.

Hoping to see a first time winner not named Russia.

I'm guessing that there won't be a pool this year

Does anyone know if FS1 offers full replays of the games after they aired?

I just added the Spectrum TV Choice package for the month and off course added FS1 as one of the channels and would like to watch the games I miss at work when I get home.

Glad the United bid got approved for 2026. It would have been a travisty if Morocco had beat out the US, Mexico and Canada. Hopefully there will be some games in our brand new stadium in Vegas. Edit : Nope, Vegas was one of seven US cities that have already been dropped from consideration.

More of a landslide than I expected. I guess the USA found a way to qualify for the WC.

Acc'd to the BBC, the 2026 final will be at The Meadowlands. 10 USA cities, Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton, Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Mexico City will host games.

I'm guessing if you use the app (I have Rokus) you can. I have Fubo TV and have been able to watch UCL replays that way.

I believe FS2 is carrying replays later in the day, as is one of the Spanish language channels I get (I forget which one off hand). If I’m not watching closely I tend to tune into the Spanish broadcast anyway because I know enough futbol Spanish to get by and they can actually make Egypt vs Saudi Arabia and Morocco vs Iran sound exciting.

I don’t know, seeing Morocco get it would have been pretty funny. Russia - Qatar - Morocco back-to-back-to-back. Better get to work on that 2030 bid Somalia before the Democratic Republic of Congo gets the jump on you!

Sucks that the nearest possible host city (Kansas City) is so far away. Minneapolis was not even a real consideration thanks to our brand new Zygmunt Wilf indoor football arena.

Hope the teams that play in Mexico enjoy urine showers with their homophobic and racist chants.

Re: 2018 World Cup - hosted by Putin & Co. (June 14th-July 15th)

Thus, 32 years after setting World Cup attendance records in hosting the 1994 competition, the United States will join forces with its neighbors to organize a championship that, in 2026, will expand to 48 teams from 32. Mexico hosted the World Cup in 1970 and '86. Canada is involved for the first time.
I did not know this. Blah.

As opposed to the cradles of tolerance that are Russia and Qatar?

Most likely just trying to help ensure the US team actually makes the cut next time.

Mexico / Germany will be a good one. I like the German team but must represent my peeps!

Don't know if there's a separate thread I read that North America will host the cup in 2026. It will be 32 years since they did so in 1994.

Their cultures of intolerance, oppression, and tyranny sprinkle the field with racist chants but to my knowledge not urine, which as yet remains a Mexican especialidad.

I have no doubt this was in large part due to the changes instituted after the Russia/Qatar fraud: The voting is not limited to just the 24-member executive committee (all members in good standing vote) and it is no longer a secret ballot. Both changes make typical FIFA chicanery more difficult to implement and easier to pinpoint.

Put it this way: More than half of the 22 people who voted Russia & Qatar the 2018 & 2022 World Cups were subsequently either fined, suspended, banned, indicted, under active investigation, or combinations thereof. A couple more died or "retired" before they could be sanctioned.

For anyone wondering how the vote on 2026 broke down (spoiler for size):
