Re: 2018 MLB Week 4 Apr. 23-29

Brandon Belt had a MLB record 21 pitch AB yesterday against LA Angels.

The Orioles continue to struggle as GM Dan Duquette has done nothing to improve the team.

...that ended in a line-out. 13 minutes to achieve nothing but a tired pitcher. Congrats.

It only took three weeks to achieve, but the Dodgers are finally a .500 team.

Their lack of pitching is crippling the team. Baltimore just can't afford free agent starters most of the time and the ones they have signed are terrible.

I don't expect Duquette or Showalter back. They need to trade Manny right now and get something, because he's not coming back. They had already traded him to the White Sox this offseason when it fell through.

I don't really see any point in trying to win. Trade Machado and start the rebuild. But maybe Duquette and Showalter don't want to do that if they're at the end of their contracts.

Corbin named NL player of the Week. His slider is damn near unhittable this year. Of course he pitches this well in a walk year.

https://www.mlb.com/news/danny-farqu...te/c-273514668

The White Sox released an extensive update Monday regarding the condition of pitcher Danny Farquhar, currently a patient at RUSH University Medical Center after suffering a brain hemorrhage and ruptured aneurysm during the team's game against Houston in Chicago on Friday.

"Farquhar's medical team reported on Monday that Danny is progressing well following a successful surgery Saturday to address the aneurysm," the update read. "Farquhar has use of his extremities, is responding appropriately to questions and commands and is speaking to doctors and his family.

"Farquhar remains in critical but neurologically stable condition in the ICU unit at RUSH. Farquhar's wife, Lexie, and family members are present at the hospital as he continues to receive treatment and close monitoring by the neurosurgical team. He is expected to remain in the neurosurgical ICU at RUSH for the next few weeks."

One of the Orioles problems is their obsession with carrying 13 pitchers.

Then what happens is that position players get injured and they have little room for bench players.

Having half way decent bench players would burn a fire under the starting position player's asses because they would then have the fear of being benched.

The only time I can remember Showalter benching a position player was JJ Hardy last year(after he said that no way in hell would Hardy be benched) because Beckham was hitting like crazy.

I wasn't aware it was his walk year. He's going to get a ton of money in free agency. He's going to get more than Jake Arrietta did because of his age.

Break up the Reds. They're on a one-game winning streak.

Checking the MLB schedule Detroit is going to play Pittsburgh three times in less than 24 hours.

I guess it could be worse: thinking Seattle vs Oakland.

Orioles GM Dumpster Diving Dan Duquette claimed INF-OF Jace Peterson from the NY Yankees. Peterson couldn't even stick with the Yankees(who have had infielder problems for years) and the sub-.500 Atlanta Braves.

He just can't hit MLB pitching. He's a spare back-up that should only be on a team if one of their starters goes down with injury and you need a fill-in.

The real reason the O's claimed him was to steal the Yankees' signs and a few other tricks. The O's will also learn how their own pitchers have been scouted by the Yanks. Whenever you see these in-division claims of irrevelant players, those are usually the reasons.

Anyone watching the Facebook Live feeds. Today is Dbacks @ Phils. Pretty good. Feed quality is good, I like the commentators and they don't take commercials. Basically just talk through it and also read/comment on comments that people make on Facebook.

Nice to see the Braves salvage a split against the Reds after losing the first two.

He's the black Mike Trout. Okay, no one is like Mike Trout. Ronald Acuna is going to have a very similar offensive career to Andrew McCutchen but with better fielding. He'd be in centerfield today if Inciarte wasn't an established Gold Glover.

Many top prospects are overhyped. Acuna will be a true MVP-level player in 2-3 years. He would have been in the majors last year if the Braves had been any good.

Sucks that Bryant was beaned in the head on Sunday and still hasn't returned to the lineup.

The O's are awful in pretty much every metric imaginable.

First things first is to fire Duquette and bring in someone not named Brady Anderson to be GM. You can't have a lame-duck Duquette performing the sell-off. He should have been fired last year.

Re: 2018 MLB Week 4 Apr. 23-29

Update on dvd-4-life's favorite player. Maybe if he'd been released, the O's could've re-signed him!

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2...miley-rotation

The Milwaukee Brewers announced Sunday that veteran left-hander Wade Miley will make his debut for the team on Wednesday in a start against the Cincinnati Reds.

The Brewers had until the end of Sunday to decide whether to add Miley to the major league roster or allow him to become a free agent.

Miley appeared set to make the Brewers' starting rotation out of spring training but suffered a groin injury the last week of camp. The Brewers kept him in the organization by paying him a retention bonus of $100,000.

He made three minor league rehab starts and was dominant in his final one Friday for Double-A Biloxi, pitching six scoreless innings and striking out 11 batters while allowing just two hits.

Left-hander Brent Suter will move to the bullpen to open a spot in the rotation for Miley, the Brewers announced. Suter, 28, has made six starts this season, going 1-2 with a 5.34 ERA.

Miley, 31, signed with the Brewers in February and spending last season with the Baltimore Orioles. He was 8-15 with a 5.61 ERA in 32 starts last season.

He is 66-74 with a 4.38 ERA in seven major league seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners and Orioles. He was an All-Star for Arizona in 2012 and finished second in NL Rookie of the Year voting after winning a career-best 16 games.

Re: 2018 MLB Week 4 Apr. 23-29

Did the Milwaukee Brewers announce that they would carry a record breaking 15 reliefers on the 25 man roster for Miley's start?

I am waiting in anticipation too see Miley's pitch count for his first start with Milwaukee.
