Fooled me too. At first I thought, "Is he out of his cotton pickin' mind to come back now?" But then I saw the date.

The Warriors better not get too cocky.

Those long playoff runs and injuries might catch up to them and it is not a given everything will click and they will be a machine again if they play the Rockets.

Surprised to not see more talk about yesterday's games. That Celtics/Bucks finish, Cavs getting handled...etc. Some great basketball.

Celtics-Bucks finish was nuts, and the Cs could've easily packed it in. I continue to be thrilled with Tatum and Brown's progress, and never expected this much out of Marcus Morris after the Avery Bradley trade.

Re: 2018 NBA Playoffs Thread

LeBron's stats for 1st round were crazy. Before this game, he never lost a 1st round series (12-0), never lost game 1 of the 1st round, and his teams had won 21 1st round games in a row.

And this was an absolute beatdown on Cleveland's home court. Pacers are a dangerous team. I think it was huge for the Sixers to avoid them in round one, seeing a big gap between the Pacers and the last 3 playoff teams fighting for seeding.

I wasn't sure what we'd get from the Sixers in round one, but after a shaky 1st half they really turned it on. Embiid sounds like he's on target on return when the series goes to Miami. Earlier in this season, and last season, the difference between Embiid playing or not was the difference between the Sixers being a playoff quality team and an outright bad team. But during the season-closing winning stream it seems the team has figured how to succeed without Embiid, with Simmons and 4 guys who can shoot and play defense.

I saw Fultz had a triple double and put up good numbers during Philly's stretch run. Is he going to have a major impact off the bench in the playoffs?

At this point, I think Sixers would be happy with the 15-25 minutes of bench work he's been getting, spelling Simmons as ball handler (or playing with Simmons based on matchups). He looks like he needs more work to be an impact player.

He looks good at ball handling, but the shot isn't back yet. Maybe that's just a confidence thing, or maybe he knows he can help his team win this season more by letting others shoot for now. Philly drafted him #1 because he shot more than 40% from 3, in addition to handling point guard duty.

EDIT: Just noticed ESPN has an article asking exactly the same question. They come to essentially the same conclusion: he can contribute from the bench with ball handling and defense, but needs more work (confidence?) on shooting to be a true impact player.

I just don't think he can contribute as a 35+ minute starter until next year, as right now he subs for Ben Simmons (which is a damn good PG tandem for 48 minutes). He shows flashes of greatness, especially when he takes it to the hole, but his shot is too inconsistent to really make an impact like he could be in a few years. But it works for this team as Fultz and Simmons just slash to the rim to draw the defense in and JJ Reddick, Bellinelli, Ilyasova, Saric and Covington just sit there open for 3 pointers all game.

Right now the Sixers have a hell of bench with Fultz, Ilyasova, and Bellinelli, and that is the reason they are playing at this level compared to starting off the season 14-18, as they were still trying to find their way as a young team. I still worry some coach is going to 'Hack a Ben Simmons' or 'Hack a Fultz' one of these games, and I want to see how they react on a National Stage, because their foul shooting is around 56%.

I see what you did there. You turned his male nickname into a female one as a way to insult him. You sure are clever.

Man, the Sixers might not look so good tonight, but at least their uniforms do. I absolutely LOVE those alternate jerseys.

We live by the 3 pointer......and die by the 3 pointer...... We were 7 for 36 from the arc tonight, while we were 18 for 28 on Saturday night. It is not confirmed but I believe Embiid will play in Game 3.

Re: 2018 NBA Playoffs Thread

Yeah, the 76ers were horrible behind the arc yesterday and Wade took over, I'm not sure that's a repeatable phenomenon but we'll see, Miami should be on fire for their first home game.

Spurs played about as well as they could and couldn't beat the Curry-less Warriors, Pop was his usual grumpy self, and Kawhi can't even be bothered to show up to cheer his teammates on.

You know it's not your night when Redick makes only 33% of his free throws.

Well, this is the kind of playoff toughening this young team needed to experience. We'll see what they're made out of, and whether they can learn. And if nothing else, this game puts to rest the silliness I heard from some Sixers fans saying that maybe the team was better without Embiid.

I really wonder if he can come back to the Spurs after this.

Then again there was a lot of bad blood with LaMarcus Aldridge last year and that's worked out very nicely this season.

I'm not sure Kawhi wants to come back and that should look bad on him. As great as he is, that lack of drive to get back becomes cancerous. Also, who wants to deal with a player's camp?
