Re: 2018 NBA Playoffs Thread

It should be a good one, I think the Rockets have a pretty damn good shot at beating the Warriors in this series.

Re: 2018 NBA Playoffs Thread

It's interesting hearing the announcers talk about how much Houston has to work for their shots with all their isolation plays. Harden is having a monster game but still sat for a good stretch at the end of the 3rd and start of the 4th. Chris Paul was sitting with 5 minutes left in the 4th.

Which just makes me thing what a beast Lebron is at 33 and playing the minutes he still does.

Re: 2018 NBA Playoffs Thread

Not to mention the dude's been in so many extra games in the playoffs having made all those Finals appearances...

I don't think you can ask CP3 and Harden to play much harder than that, plus they attacked Steph defensively and they still weren't really in it in the second half. GS just slept through the regular season and decided to turn on that playoff switch that apparently only they and Lebron really have. Geez.

Woot! Woot! 2-0!

I love Marcus Smart and Al Horford.

I know Smart is polarizing even among Celtics fans, but I hope they keep him.

These Celtics are wild. It also feels like it's been easy to forget how good Horford is and was as a piece of those good Hawks teams.

I wouldn't ever say these Celts are fun to watch, but I wouldn't argue with anyone who says that.

Amazing any team can lose their two best players and still be this good.

Al Horford had never beaten Lebron in a playoff game until last year. The Brad Stevens effect.

Seriously, with all the injuries they basically swapped out an MVP contender last year for a rookie, and the team is better. I never thought I'd say this ever, but Kyrie was right.

Will be interesting to see if the Cavs are able to recover at home. And if this goes seven games, with teach team winning their home games, maybe people will get back to realizing that seeding does matter.

if that ends up happening who gets the blame? I didn't follow their whole season but I have to imagine the Cavs were capable of being a higher seed if they tried. Rather than assuming making it to the playoffs was enough.

The Cavs were a mess during the regular season. I don't think it was a matter of not trying, they just weren't a really good team with a roster that didn't fit together. They can still win because Lebron (and the games Kevin Love gets involved) but otherwise I don't think they were as good as Toronto or Boston during the regular season.

The Cavs of course. That's the point. They dropped a lot of winnable games against far lesser teams. Even thought the team was in flux, many of those games could have went differently.

Just because a team sweeps another team like the Cavs did Toronto doesn't mean it wouldn't have been better if they were a higher seed in case home court becomes relevant against a better team.

They did more than that, only 4 players from last year's roster are on this year's roster (Horford, Smart, Rozier, and Brown). Kyrie isn't the only new piece.

Everyone but Lebron and Love. Team isn't very good, no one plays defense. Ty Lue couldn't coach himself out of a wet paper bag.

All of the above. But depending on how much the the Lebron runs the show talk is true, mostly Lebron.

I wasn't even counting Kyrie (or Hayward) as a piece, since he's injured, I was only counting Tatum. But yeah, that was a big risk overhauling the roster like that; I actually thought they would really miss Crowder but seeing how he played (except in that last playoff series) I guess they sold high.

As far as the Cavs go... Lebron played great and Love played well and they still lost. I'm sure he won't let them get swept and it is just holding home court but that doesn't seem good.

Re: 2018 NBA Playoffs Thread

Crowder was a really valuable trade chip with his skill set and reasonable contract, but I'm not sure what happened. Maybe it was one of those Brad Stevens things.

I agree that the Celtics are fun to watch. They run and scramble, and they don't have a guy dominating the ball.

Re: 2018 NBA Playoffs Thread

While i'm not counting Lebron out yet since he always seems to do superhuman things, it does seem like the Cavs are really missing having another go to shot creator and playmaker without Kyrie against the Celtics defense in the series. I really thought George Hill would be better, but maybe his back is still limiting him.

Re: 2018 NBA Playoffs Thread

Just heard Rachel Nichols say on the Jump today:
Lebron only had one open shot all game, and that came in the first 90 seconds
The Cavs only had 11 open shots the entire game, 8 of which came in the first half.
So that means they were open on only 3 of the 39 shots they took in the second half.

Yikes, GS only had two players in double figures scoring, who would've thought? Klay especially was just ice cold.
