Big 2 for Shuster there after the shaky 7th.

CAN/ITA and SUI/GBR both tied thru 7.

The delays due to weather really suck. It’s fucking up all the alpine sports.

haha I guess but he looks like he's matured. I remember him from his doofy hair days. You can tell this guy loves the sport because of the scars on his face. That was a brutal fall that he took in New Zealand.

I can only watch the Olympics on broadcast television. The sports are almost completely displaced by commercials and mini documentaries about the athletes.

What's left seems to be half-pipe snowboarding and figure skating.

Good for Shaun White.
I tend to root for the underdog, or the old dog (as I'm in my 40s)
I'm glad to see the old dog teach the pups who is boss, one last time.

Good stuff and pretty exciting that it came down to the very last run for gold.

Stay classy Koreans!

By Radio-Canada Sports

Short track speed skater Kim Boutin, who won bronze in the 500-metre final Tuesday at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, has been subjected to threatening messages on social media from angry supporters of a South Korean skater.

They're furious with the Quebec athlete after Choi Min-jeong was disqualified from the race for interference after originally finishing second.

After the event, photos that Boutin published months ago received thousands of comments, many of them abusive.

Nordic Combined was fun. Came down to a rematch of the 2014 event between Frenzel and Watabe, and Frenzel wins gold again by just a few seconds. A great burst in the final km.

Another gold for the Dutch in speed skating. Just piling them up.

I always thought White was a douche... talented sure... but a douche. I remember some documentary that showed it for sure. And these sexual harassment things coming up again aren't surprising.

Re: 2018 Winter Olympics - PyeongChang, February 9-25

Reactions to these Olympics so far as a know-nothing American fan:
1. It's a good thing tons of wacky versions of snowboarding exist.
2. American speedskating has completely come off the rails in an Olympic year. Again.
3. My God, please stop showing so much figure skating. I don't mind it in small doses, but three hours straight of the team competition was a little much.
4. American skiing also seems to be having a "transition year".
5. The American hockey team just lost to Slovenia. Where the hell is Slovenia?
6. The Red guy who won one of the wacky snowboarding competitions seems like a sweet kid.
7. Shaun White seems like a grade A prick. As usual. Can't stand that guy.
8. Chloe Kim seems like a nice person. Her dad, though. Ugh.
9. This is apparently an extremely well organized Olympics. The weather isn't cooperating, but the hosts can hardly be blamed for that. I think SK is doing a great job so far.

It's well organized but attendance is way down. Expectations are at a 10b loss for SK. All host nations lose out but 10b is a very high number.

Last night after the snowboarding on NBC, they switched to the same ice skating event that was already being broadcast on NBCSN. That would be OK, if they then switched NBCSN to something else. They didn't do that, which seems inexcusable to me. Even with the alpine postponements, there has to be SOMETHING else that you can show instead of having the exact same event on two channels.

At this point, I don't understand why anyone would want to host the Olympics. PyeongChang seems to be a vanity exercise for the head of Samsung. Regardless, my point remains: the organizers seem competent and are doing a good job given the circumstances.

Famously LA didn't lose any money in 1984. They're going to have it again 2028 I think. Maybe they'll do it again.

Damn - no Sidorova for the RUS/OAR women's curling team. No Bryzgalova (from the mixed doubles) either.

I thought he was married to Meryl Davis

I just get a feeling Chris Knierim might be on the down-low lol and it would be sad since his wife seems like a nice person.

Shiffrin was really good on the bottom half after the leader. The rest all give up time on the bottom.

And wow - Rachel and company (CAN) down 4-1 in curling to KOR half-way through.
