What Are Your Favorite 2017 Sports Memories?

I thought with the end of the year, we could talk about what event or game or result was your highlight in 2017.

For me, it would have to be the Dodgers clinching the NL Pennant. Yes, they ended up a game short in the World Series, but that run, after a season when they looked historically good for months and then fell off a cliff and looked awful for a solid month, then ran through the NL going 7-1. Man that was thrilling to me. I barely knew anything about Baseball when they last went to the World Series 29 years ago. I really enjoyed and appreciated this run, even with the eventual loss to the Astros.

Second place : You all know this : The first Golden Knights game. I was there with my wife, it was just over a week after the shootings. We were all shell-shocked and hurting. And this team brought us together as a community. It was too somber an event to be considered "fun", but it was a much-needed win and the start of maybe something very special. As I mentioned in the frame-up thread, I spent some money and commemorated the event so it lives on in my man-cave as well as my memory

Verlander's Game Two start in the ALCS against the Yankees. That is the game, along with his game six, that changed everyone's perception of him as a definite Hall of Famer. I'm so glad he won the World Series, even though I was rooting for the Dodgers more this playoffs.

Second would be the Patriots' comeback against the Falcons in the Super Bowl. I still can't believe the Falcons blew that lead.

The trade when it happened or during one of his earliest games for the Niners?

Easy. The Astros' first World Series title and Roger Federer's record breaking 8th Wimbledon title

2 biggest ones I can think of are:
Dbacks winning Wildcard game and being there.
Other was ASU hoops beating Kansas there.

The Twins making the playoffs for the first time in awhile, and rebounding from 100+ losses last season to do so, was pretty awesome. But I hope that gets topped before year’s end.

Without a doubt:

Back-to-back Stanley Cups and the 3rd with the core.

(Kunitz's Game 7 winner against Ottawa in 2OT wasn't TOO far behind.)

The Dodgers finally winning a pennant (I root for the Jets and Dodgers- the last time I saw the Dodgers win a pennant, I was a month away from being Bar-Mitzvah'd)

I honestly got nothin'. Pretty shitty year for this sports fan. But I can think of many low point specifics, including when the Seahawks signed Blair Walsh.

Seeing the Chiefs beat the Patriots in the first game of the NFL season was pretty entertaining.

Penguins back to backing it.

The Patriots comeback Superbowl victory was pretty awesome too and I don't even like football.

Watching with my boys from the stands as the Badgers won the Axe to finish the season 12-0 for the first time. Then, afterwards, introducing them to a couple of my Badger teammates from back in the day. If they can't be impressed by dad, at least they can be impressed by guys dad knows!

In the same boat as BearFan and hdnmickey: I still have an afterglow from the Cubs' 2016 season, but most everything else has been pretty meh. Most of my teams (even the UW Huskies football team) made the playoffs but not the championship round, so there would good moments and good games (Cubs' crazy NLDS win over the Nats), but overall it was pretty meh. I won the championship of my primary fantasy league, I guess.

Getting to see the Dodgers win an NLCS game and a World Series game in person. First time at an MLB playoff game, let alone a World Series game, and it was exhilarating. I just hope it's not the furthest the Dodgers get anytime soon...

Nothing will beat the Patriots coming back from a 28-3 deficit and winning the Super Bowl.

Changing my answer to winning the 2017 DVDTalk Bowl Pick-em Championship. I consider this one of my greatest internet accomplishments, and will wear the * in future threads proudly.
