Tough place to play in Seattle but I don't seem them as a contender. Too much of a one man show. Some team will bottle him up in the payoffs if they make it.
The running back was clearly behind Wilson when he threw the ball to him, but by the time he caught it, he may have been ahead. Tricky call, and also kind of an optical illusion. I also think Wilson was throwing it back, but forward progress might've made the ball travel far enough forward. I can see why the refs didn't call it, but after watching the replay a few times I can certainly see the debate.

Anyway, great win by the Seahawks. Maybe they have a chance to get into the playoffs and grab a win after all.

The NFC playoffs are going to be fun. I think any of the division champs and wild cards can win it.

The AFC - complete opposite. But I'll say it again - look out for the Ravens - the one team that knows how to beat NE and PIT.

Re: 2017 NFL Regular Season Thread -- Week 13

Would be interesting to see the wording of the backwards pass vs. forward lateral rule. When Wilson tossed the ball the trajectory was clearly backwards. But since both players were running forward, the ball was not caught behind where Wilson threw it.

It was great to hear Wilson getting for more league MVP talk this morning. Wentz, Brady, and Brees all are having great years, but they don't have to carry the whole offense like Wilson does.

My fantasy team wishes Brees was still carrying the whole offense.

.
I honestly never knew that was the rule until Collingsworth brought it up and was telling Pederson to challenge. I always thought as long as you lateraled backwards, that's all that mattered. I didn't realize that the catch has to be made before the spot of the initial lateral.

Surprised it took them this long. Will be even more interesting to see what happens to Eli now.

I don't think it comes up that often and I'm not sure Colinsworth was correct until I see the portion of the rules that makes it clear.

This is all is all there is for a "backwards pass" (lateral) in the NFL rules I could find online:

Any pass not forward is regarded as a backward pass. A pass parallel to the line is a backward pass. A runner may pass backward at any time.
Even a pass directly parallel to the line applies and he trajectory of Wilson's throw was clearly backwards.

Re: 2017 NFL Regular Season Thread -- Week 13

If a running back receives the ball from the QB but is in front of the QB then all the rushes in the NFL are really passes?

The NY Giants are proving to be another Mickey Mouse franchise. Eli Manning is more important than the team.

Not only should they tank, they should play out Webb and see what they have there.

John Mara spoke about 1 hour ago at a press conference. He said that he will under no circumstances accept tanking. He wants them to win as many of the remaining 4 games as possible.

If everyone who took a cheap shot at the Bills got suspended no one would be working any more, amIright?

1 game only. That was a really cheap shot. Note that NE/PIT is in Week 15.

He better look out for his knees in every game going forward.

Dang, Ryan Shazier is put on a board and carted off with a back injury caused by a head-first collision.

Kind of strange how he lead with the head, but immediately grabbed his lower back. Hope it's just a stinger/disc type issue.

I immediately said a prayer for Ryan as soon as I saw that hit and his body reaction. This looks like it will be a very serious injury.

A Bengals Steelers game that doesn't end in a melee is pretty well reffed IMHO.

Vontaze Burfict got Vontaze Burfict-ed.

I don't know how much JuJu Smith-Schuster is making on his rookie contract, but a significant portion of it is going to go to charity in the next few days.
