College Football Week 13, 2017: Rivalry Week.

Here are the TV listings and schedule for week 13. The herd should be thinned out at the top of the CFP polls after Saturday's games.

Horrific injury to the Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald. Looked like his leg was dislocated at both the knee and ankle.

Spoiler:

Amazingly he is back on the sideline on crutches.

Upset alert: #2 Miami down 17-7 to Pitt late in the 3rd Q.

Miami going to the back-up seems like a desperation move that will fail spectacularly

Pass batted down, bad incompletion, sack.

So yeah, pretty much.

Man, I hope Auburn wins tomorrow just to create total chaos.

Like one loss would hurt Alabama. If the Committee has been consistent about anything, it's that the Tide is allowed one more loss than any other team

Yeah, the way things are headed, the only thing Alabama losing tomorrow would do is to open the door to put 2 SEC teams in the playoff, Alabama and the winner of the SEC Title game.

That depends on what happens in the SEC championship game. If Auburn beats Bama and then beats Georgia again in the conference title game, Auburn would be in. Even with two losses they would have to be. I think the rest of the three slots would be filled with whichever three of the remaining top four didn't shoot themselves in the foot (assuming three didn't). Alas, now Miami already has so that makes things more interesting.

Another scenario is that Auburn beats Bama but loses to Georgia in the title game. Obviously, that eliminates Auburn but what would that do to the Bama/Georgia question? They might be tempted to sneak both teams into the final four and Miami knocking themselves out makes that more plausible as the odds of one of OU losing to TCU, Clemson getting spoiled by Miami or Wisconsin losing to Ohio State are pretty damn good. If that happens, Obi-Wan is almost certainly right. It will be Bama, the SEC champ, and whichever two of the OU/WI/Clemson bunch doesn't kill themselves.

Personally, I think it will be a moot point.

I don't know, based on the nonsense Kirby Hocutt had to say last week about Miami this week I expect him to say something like "The committee was impressed by Miami's recent ability to trail by several scores late in back-to-back games to bad football teams. Add in that Miami did Clemson one better by losing to a team that lost to Syracuse, and that had a lot to do with moving them up to #1. Remember, we are talking about small differences between teams...well as long as you ignore play on the field that is."

Georgia > Alabama in that scenario.

Alabama's SOS is something like 60. Their resume is not that strong. Were they to lose to Auburn, their profile would not be very good.

So, Bama and Oklahoma win out and we're in, correct?

Or would a two loss non-champ Clemson still be in play?

Yep, Boss Hogg out at Arkansas. No great surprise there. Wonder where he plans to go to compete for championships next?

This UCF/South Florida game has been insane, in a good way.

I agree. If Alabama loses to Auburn, what can they point to as their best wins? Mississippi State? The only team they will have beaten with less than 4 losses would be LSU. If LSU is their best win that would give them something in common with Troy.

It will be Wisconsin/Alabama as undefeated CCs, plus any 1-loss CCs. If that doesn't make four, then you get into how they decide to split the hairs between any 1-loss non-CCs - which could only be Wisconsin, Alabama, and (gasp) Notre Dame - and any 2-loss CCs.

Then again, let's face it, Alabama starts the season with a one game lead on everyone else because they are Alabama.

Nick Fitzgerald from Miss State suffered a dislocated ankle today. Got rolled up, and his foot was facing backwards.

San Diego State is the first school to have two different RB's rush for 2,000 yards in back to back seasons. (Donnel Pumphrey last year, and FBS leading rusher Rashaad Penny this year).

Penny is a beast. As Pumphrey got past 2,000 yards last year, Penny topped 1,000 as a backup!

Well, that game was closer than I expected it to be, but there's no excuses and no moral victories in rivalry games. Harbaugh is 1-5 against MSU and OSU, and this is unacceptable in his 3rd year. He needs to win both of those games next year, or there should be real talk about his job. I don't care that they're both on the road. He doesn't get paid $9 Mil a year to lose to everyone that matters.

He's a really good coach, but he needs to recruit and/or develop a really good QB.

There's Bama. Made it look easy coming out of the half.
