Re: 2017-2018 NHL Regular Season Thread

I have no idea what to expect from the Sharks this year. Other than losing Marleau, they were relatively quiet this offseason. Hopefully they play like the first 69 games of last year instead of the last 13 + playoffs.

And I hope hope hope Thornton can return to form. But a 38 year old coming off knee surgery... I'm not very optimistic.

Anyway, go Sharks!

Still can't believe they won it in OT after Blues-ing it up at the end of the third.

Re: 2017-2018 NHL Regular Season Thread

Did the NHL( I think it's actually MLB that owns it) stop giving a free preview of NHL Center Ice? Noticed Direct TV didn't have a free preview last night so I had to order NHL CI a week early.

Doubt if I order NHL.TV this season(unless it come's free with NHL CI). They no longer remove commericals on replays and it's too costly ($ 140 per season).

Nice way to coin a new, but thoroughly descriptive, phrase.

Like Joe Nuxhall used to say, "You can't win 'em all if you don't win the first one."

Blues 1-0

That's a relief! Now that they've got the first hundred seasons behind them, maybe the Blues will win a cup in the second hundred. LGB!

To be fair, it's kind of hard to fault them for not winning in the NHL's first 50 years, before they existed.

Nice start for the Blackhawks. 8 minutes in and Saad has a goal and Kane has had two highlight reel assists.

Niemi yanked after four goals in less than half a period.

Of course I have the one guy on the top two lines who doesn't have a point, Toews, on my fantasy team.

Re: 2017-2018 NHL Regular Season Thread

Back-up goalie Calvin Pickard, the first pick in the Golden Knights' expansion draft was placed on waivers today, two days after they picked up Malcolm Subban off waivers from Boston and sadly, a single day before the team played their first official game. He had a contest to let the Vegas fans design his helmet and he'll never even get to wear it in a game. . Anyways, here is the "winning" design :

Re: 2017-2018 NHL Regular Season Thread

I've been checking the wires periodically for several days and finally, literally at almost the last minute, Cox cable has struck a deal with AT&T to broadcast games locally on cable mere hours before their first-ever game. That was cutting it close and it would have been a disaster if they weren't broadcasting the first ever home game next Tuesday -- especially considering there will certainly be a tribute to the shooting victims. That would have looked terrible. Glad that crisis was narrowly avoided (apparently)

Hey, can we play the Penguins again while they're still in the Midwest and have apparently forgotten that the season has started?

Oh, and thanks a lot Hawks. Here I was thinking that our OT win over the champs was impressive. Lol.

That's great news!

And we're leading Stars 2-1 late in 3rd!

I watched the game in the Bar & Grill above the training facility. The place went nuts with that second goal. So cool and so, so needed this week.
