College Football Week 5, 2017.

It's hard to believe we are already in week five of the 2017 College Football season. Here are the matchups and TV listings.

Weak week, but looking forward to Clemson/VT. They played a classic last December.

It was a late game last night so i'm going to put the score in spoilers just in case you haven't saw it yet.

Spoiler:
Number 16 Washington State beats #5 USC 30-27.

Well hopefully Lamar and the boys can distract this town for a few hours today. I'd like to see Jawon Pass get some more playing time.

Well, given my posts on this topic over the last few years I'd imagine that most of you can guess where I'll be at 7:30 PM PDT....

Should be a good game .. Northern Iliinois is a tough team

Not too many games really getting my attention this week though ... easily the weakest slate of the season

Northwestern had made a game of this

98 yards to go to tie it

Georgia is just spanking the Vols. I think this is the final nail in Butch Jones' coffin.

What a weird last 10 minutes. Wisconsin was dominating the game throughout the third and early fourth quarter and their defense was having their way with Northwestern's offense. Then all of a sudden it was a game again. Wisconsin held NW to 24 yards rushing, sacked Thorsen 8 times, had a pick 6, and on and on. It was 31-10 with 5 minutes left, and then with a minute left NW had the ball with a chance to tie - all without the benefit of a crazy Wisconsin turnover or anything particularly strange happening. Just a few timely drive saving penalties and Wisconsin getting very conservative.

Re: College Football Week 5, 2017.

Well, SDSU won ugly in a game dominated by NIU - except when it counted.

SDSU picked off 3 passes, one a pick-six. SDSU ran the opening kickoff back for a TD.

But NIU's Antonio Jones-Davis wins the Dirty Player of the Season So Far award as he intentionally reached into Rashaad Penny's facemask after a play (while Penny was pinned under a pile with his arms pinned by his sides) and gouged Penny in the eyes. Penny couldn't see at all for a couple minutes, and couldn't see out of his right eye for several more minutes after that. Penny missed a whole drive and part of another as he was getting treatment and the equipment staff was putting a visor on his helmet. Jones-Davis really crossed the line there and could have ended the career of a potential NFL star before it began. We'll see what happens from here, but it was a really ugly, nasty intentional act.

But it was an ugly game. NIU was stacking 9 in the box against Penny (and the only Senior on SDSU's offensive line was out with an ankle injury, so he was replaced by a true Freshman), so he, "Only," got 107 yards rushing. NIU was able to move the ball, but SDSU had 4 takeaways, including those 3 int's. Oh, the MAC officiating crew was awful, too.

It was not a fun time in the stands.
