Unless the Rockies end up crapping the bed, this week is shaping up to be a rather boring final week of the MLB season.

I'd be surprised if they didn't leave the door open for someone to make a move. They just went 4-5 against the Padres/Giants, 2 teams a combined 50 games below .500.

Now whether Milwaukee or St. Louis takes advantage of it is obviously a whole different story. Both teams are clearly capable.

Such a huge game by Quintana yesterday. I'd love to see Lester get back on track tonight.

Nice game by Lester and some fine nacho delivery by Russell ... hopefully they wrap this up today ... set up the rotation, give the pen some rest, and we can watch Spring Training 2.0 the rest of the way

Cubs continue to embarrass the Cardinals. Doesn't matter where they play.

Cardinals are a team full of pussies. Led by a giant moronic pussy. And put together by a giant dry pussy.

You know what happened the last time the Dodgers won 100 games.

I literally have no idea. What happened? Must have been a while ago.

They got swept by the A's in the 1974 World Series. (I went to the series)

Of course that A's team was one of the greatest teams in the history of the game. If there was no free agency in baseball that team probably would have won several more World Series.

I thought you were referring to the Kirk Gibson series until I realized that was a GOOD one for the Dodgers and they were the underdog.

A's won in 5 games- they weren't swept.

Re: 2017 MLB Week 25 Sep 25-Oct 1 "Final Week Edition"

Yeah, that 88 team had no business beating the Mets even. I don't think that team even won 90 games.

I was thinking this morning : Before realignment and the Wild Card I remember when the NL West had two 100 game winners and one didn't make the Playoffs. I think the Braves made it and the Giants didn't. I could be wrong, but I think that was the time that the Dodgers eliminated them at home on the last day and Orel Hershiser taunted them from the bench to the point that Will Clark's head almost exploded. Good times. Anyway, how fucked up it seems now to have a team not make the Playoffs with 100 wins. That's like a 13-14 win NFL team missing the Playoffs (based on season results where maybe one team a year reaches that mark, not win percentage).

Re: 2017 MLB Week 25 Sep 25-Oct 1 "Final Week Edition"

I remember back in '82 when Joe Morgan hit a homer for the Giants that eliminated the Dodgers on the final day. Braves had 89 wins, Dodgers 88, and Giants 87. The Cards won the east with 92, and the Phillies had 89. The playoffs would've been really interesting if you'd had wild-card entries.

That was 1993. If I remember Piazza hit a homer that game (his rookie year) to beat the Giants. That was the best 2 team pennant race that i have ever seen

The 88 Dodgers had 94 wins that year. The Mets beat them 11 out of 12 times that year. I was at game 4 (as you can tell a big Dodgers fan here from the NY area), and I still remember Shea going quiet when Scioscia hit the homer off Gooden in the 9th. Between that homer, Hershiser coming on for the save after starting the day before, and John Shelby making a diving catch to win the game (the same catch that he missed int he 9th inning of game 1 to give the Mets the win), that is still the best game that I have seen in person in any sport.

Not sure how many years it's been since I thought of John Shelby. Glad guys like this live on in the game replays in our minds.

Another good memory! I only remember Shelby as a fast skinny center fielder and not much else.

Disgusted by the Cards' (lack of) performance last night.

Saddened by Molina taking a couple of foul balls off the mask and having to leave the game.
