The Dodgers' offense looks completely different without Bellinger in it. It's not a coincidence they lost their first series in months with him on the DL.

According to ESPN.com,the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros will play their upcoming 3 game series in Tampa. It looks like the Astros vs Mets weekend series will also be played in Tampa.

Behind Bundy's one-hitter,the Orioles continue to move up in the standings ever closer to a wildcard spot.

I can't see Tillman and Jimenez remaining in the starting rotation after the roster expands on Sept. 1 despite some strange roster move's over the last few days.

Multiple reports out there that the Cards/Mariners are about to swing a deal with Mike Leake heading to Seattle. Didn't see that one coming.

I imagine St. Louis is going to eat some of the $50+ million owed to him. Leake had to waive a no-trade clause to make it happen.

What's interesting for the Cards is what it means going forward for their rotation. Free up a spot for a young guy coming up (Flaherty?), money for Lynn or someone else?

Guess it's official: Leake to Seattle, with cash and international slot money for a 21 year old infielder who hit about .220 in the lower minor leagues. Shows how much they just wanted to get rid of him.

The Mariners' rotation is being held together with duct tape right now so it makes sense, especially if money is the big factor as they have few prospects left after this year's deals and general system attrition/failure.

Ubaldo definitely should not, particularly after the garbage start today.

7 in a row for the O's. Amazing what can happen when you starting hitting really well in a soft A.L. That being said, they are far better at home than on the road and they are mostly on the road in Sept.

They can put Ubaldo in the bullpen and never use him.

Rumor has it that they want too bring back Miguel Gonzalez from the White Sox and would need to do that before Sept 1st so he could be on the post season roster.

Even though Miley is pitching better he still is just a 5 inning pitcher .

Looks like they will bring back Pedro Alvarez for the September push but will need to move someone off the 40 man roster. Perhaps C Francisco Pena will be added also needing to make an adjustment to the 40 man roster.

Re: 2017 MLB Week 22 Aug 27-Sep 3

Royals pitcher Danny Duffy was arrested on a DUI charge over the weekend.

Royals GM Dayton Moore took the arrest as an opportunity to lecture us about the evils of pornography.

“We’ve done a lot of leadership stuff with our players,” said Moore, a devout Christian. “Very transparent about things that happen in our game. Not only with drugs and alcohol — we talk about pornography and the effects, what that does to the minds of players and the distractions, and how that leads to abuse of — domestic abuse, abuse of women. How it impacts relationships. We talk about a lot of things, and I don’t mind sharing them with you.”
Maybe if Dayton Moore let the Royals, who at the time of the press conference had gone 43 consecutive innings without scoring a single run, watch pornography they might know how to get past first base.

Mariners are in a total tailspin right now, and they're STILL not out of the race.

That was indeed a weird tangent.

Everyone in the American League is in the wild card race. Truthfully, I would rather have two or three quality teams fighting it out for a wild card than six mediocre teams.

There is no way a team like the Orioles or Mariners, even if they make the wild card, have a prayer at winning the world series.

Anything in sports is possible(except for Wade Miley starting and pitching into the 7th inning or the Detroit Lions winning a playoff game).

Nowadays even finishing in first has little advantage. A team being hot at the end of the season is more important than other parts of the season.

There is more pressure on a team like the Dodgers because they are expected to win.

The 9-7 NY Giants won the Superbowl.

I can remember many Detroit Red Wing teams going balls to the wall during the regular season and then having nothing left in the tank come playoff time.

First 4 game losing streak for Dodgers this year. 2 series losses in a row. Coming back down to earth?

Maybe. Hopefully getting Bellinger and Kershaw back this week will help right the ship

The first 2 games between the Rangers and Astros in the Suncoast Dome have drawn 3,485 and 6,123.
The Astros will return to Houston and play a doubleheader Saturday vs the Mets.

Both the Mariners and Orioles have a starter capable of throwing a gem, and enough offense to win any single game. That's a great formula for winning a winner-takes-all game, but not for winning a series.

I do agree with dvd-4-life that any team can get hot and make a run, and history has seen a number of unexpected teams make it to the World Series, but the AL WC contenders seem particularly flawed and unlikely to pull it off.

Re: 2017 MLB Week 22 Aug 27-Sep 3

Most of the wild card teams that got hot and made deep playoff runs had one or two dominant pitchers. The AL wild card teams are mostly built around hitting.

I still have no idea how the Angels are in this race. They don't have much beyond Trout and Simmons. That is a great move for Upton.
