I'm voting for Corey Seager since he's been the team leader and they're having far and away the best year of any NL team. If Bryce Harper comes back soon, I'd be fine with him as well, but if he's out for an extended period, I don't think you can give him the MVP this season.

Goldschmidt would have gotten my vote a month ago, but now i'm not so sure at all.

It was Harper's MVP to lose until he went down with the injury. I think Goldschmidt wins unless Stanton hits 60 homers.

It was good to see the Cubs score 4 runs with two outs to take the lead in the 7th tonight and then had to hang on to win 13-9. Bryant got HBP and has had x-rays. No word yet on the results.

Dodgers win again in Pittsburgh and move 54 games above 500, assuring another series win (they haven't lost a series since June 5-7).
They put Cody Bellinger on the 10 day DL after he twisted his ankle a few days ago and put Alex Wood back on the DL. Now their top 3 starting pitchers (Kershaw, Darvish, Wood) are all on the DL at the same time. As long as they're healthy in Oct I guess it's not a big deal -- it's not like the Division is up for grabs. Still, it's a little unsettling to see this close to the Post-Season.

I think we can call the NL Central a 3 team race and scratch the Pirates now.

The Dodgers are purposely putting their starters on extended rest with DL trips. I'm almost positive that Kershaw would have come back two weeks ago if the Dodgers were in threat of missing the playoffs. They are giving every starter more rest before the playoffs.

Dodgers pitcher Rich Hill had a perfect game into the 9th inning at Pittsburgh until an error by the third baseman. The game was scoreless and went into the 10th inning. In the bottom of the 10th, with Hill still pitching a no-hitter, Pirates infielder Josh Harrison led off the inning with a homerun to left to end the game.

A friend said Harvey Haddix was trending so I had to figure out what he was talking about.

Another nice win for the Cubs, but I sure wish the bullpen would stop giving up random three-spots in garbage time.

What's amazing is that Rich Hill rarely pitches past the fifth inning these days. Harrison said in his post-game interview that Hill's stuff had declined by the end of the game and he jumped on a good pitch to hit.

Multiple bench clearing brawls, hit batters and ejections in today's NYY/Detroit game.

Cabrera's punching looks like it's gone downhill like his hitting has.

Thanks for the jinx, SI! Now I know we don't have a chance.

BTW : Unlike in last night's pitching masterpiece, they scored some runs today (!) and became, I think, the fifth team of the live-ball era to notch 90 wins in their first 125 games.

I expect Gary Sanchez to be suspended 8-12 games for his part in the brawl. He was caught on video suckerpunching a couple of different Tigers.

Seems like we are back to the "nobody want to win the Central" mode again.

It's there for the taking for the team that gets hot.

Don't count on it being the Cardinals. Between their season-long inconsistent play and their recent injury issues, it's hard for me to imagine them making a run. Would love to be proven wrong though.

And yet because of MLB's appeal process, he has yet to miss a single game.

Rhys Hoskins of the Phillies hit his 10th Homerun last night in only his 63rd at bat to start a career. Of course there isn't much on the national news cause he doesn't play for the Yankees or Redsox.

Cubs score 17 runs but Schwarber goes 0-5 with three Ks. If this were fantasy football, I'd be the Schwarber owner.

Re: 2017 MLB Week 21 Aug 21-26

Rhys Hoskins hits another HR today, that's 11 HR's in his first 18 games as this is an unprecedented pace at a start of a career! I'm surprised that pitchers haven't adjusted and started pitching around him, but judging by the comments here, this is falling under the radar.
