Rookie hitters tend to get a month or so of pure fastballs until veteran pitchers wise up and pitch them differently. I've seen it happen too many times with too many different rookies.

If you are a rookie and can hit a fastball, you should get off to a decent start. Hoskins is obviously hitting out of his mind but Trevor Story started kind of similarly last year.

Yeah, the list of players I saw Hoskins had passed didn't have a lot of world-beaters: Shane Spencer, Gary Sanchez, Kevin Maas....
