Is the MLS a Ponzi scheme?

Many of us have been saying this for years.

Probably. At any rate I absolutely despise MLS.

Still planning to go Sunday. I support my local team, regardless of the league.

Another early KO - ugh!

430a, for the city v Liverpool game

Phil is back, but won't start.
Kompany is out supposedly.

Should be goals in this.

and in other Liverpool news.
Karius is going to be the keeper of choice for CL games

Jon Moss is a useless twat.

edit: After seeing the replay a few hundred times, I may have been a bit harsh on Moss.

I thought it was a harsh red, but not egregiously so. The bigger issue is how you guys capitulated afterwards.

In other news, madrid draw, again, this time at home to Levante. Already four dropped points this early in the season.

Cologne fans were ready for their first European game in 25 years.

Over 20,000 traveled to London to see their team take on Arsenal.

Re: The all-inclusive 2017-18 football/futbal/fußball/voetbal/calcio/soccer thread

LP - I refuse to even comment about their piss poor performance today. Moving on.

Barca - Paulinho with a solid performance today goal and an assist. He needs to get his fitness up as he looked pretty whipped around the 75th minute. The man to talk about is Semedo though. This kids deserves the RB job permanently. He still needs to clean up some of his touches and work on better crosses from the wing but this kid is good. He is a better defender than Alves but Alves was world class going forward and Semedo has a lot of work to do to up his game in this area but there is plenty of good in him already.

Messi - well what I can I say he is taking it to another level this season. Just hope he doesn't run out of gas but he sure looks like he is out to prove people he doesn't need Neymar (hell doesn't need Suarez either as he has been invisible so far this season). BTW Messi with 4 today

Dominated the 1st half, but just couldn't score.

I can't be too mad since all my online football friends are from Leicester.

Happy for them.

Love Shinji!

Not really impressing in CL so far.

On the plus side, Notts County are top of League Two.

Should have taken the six point penalty and not played the match.

I know that is far easier for me to say, but still.

Fuck this board.

Let me add:

Fuck tebas and madrid and la liga far more.

Re: The all-inclusive 2017-18 football/futbal/fußball/voetbal/calcio/soccer thread

Well, this is certainly.... confusing:
Linky: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/footb...aving-la-liga/

Quote:
Barcelona president confirms the club will discuss leaving La Liga for the Premier League or another of Europe’s biggest leagues
BARCELONA president Josep Maria Bartomeu has confirmed the La Liga leaders are considering playing outside of Spain should Catalonia gain independence which could see them trying to join the Premier League.

Over 90 per cent of people have voted for a referendum as the region is on course to become independent. However, violent clashes led to Barca's league match against Las Palmas on Sunday to be played behind closed doors after violent clashes followed the vote.

Bartomeu has confirmed his team plan to go on strike in protest at the violent crackdown by police and the Civil Guardia by refusing to train on Tuesday. And now he has revealed the Barcelona board will be discussing where the club play their football in the future, potentially leading to the club moving to one of Europe's other leading leagues.

He said: “[...] with regards to things that can happen in the future, it is something that the board of directors would discuss. It would be something to analyse calmly.

“If we discuss the subject intensely then obviously we will find the best solution. But if this [independence] happens, the board of directors will see.”

Speaking in a press release to explain the decision to play in front of an empty stadium on Sunday, he added: "Here at FC Barcelona we decided that we had to take some kind of measure to show our indignation to the world.

"There were many matters at stake and we discussed these with the different departments of the club: directors, executive, coaches and players. I must say that this was one of the most difficult decisions that I have ever had to make as Barça president. We very seriously considered the option of postponing the game, but we could not get the Professional Football League to approve our request."

He also confirmed the resignations of vice-president Carles Vilarrubi and numerous other staff members had been accepted.

He added: "What we witnessed in our country yesterday was inadmissible. We demand respect for the people of Catalonia and we shall once again stand alongside its legitimate representatives."

"We Catalans have won the right to be heard."
A lot of words to say nothing concrete. Oh, Bartomeu is certainly pissed at La Liga, but I'm skeptical that Barça could just jump into Serie A or the Premier League. Sounds like saber-rattling.

Hypothetical: IF Barca left the Spanish league system after independence, would any other Catalonian clubs have the means to follow suit?
