Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2017

I picked up Tarik Cohen in any league that I had Howard as my starting RB. I also picked up the Raiders Kicker to replace Caleb Sturgis. I also picked up Chris Carson with hopes he will start for Seattle soon.

You will have about two weeks of knowledge knowing who not to draft and they might be on autopick.

If you really want to up your score just create five dummy accounts. That may seem like a lot of work but I'm pretty sure you can set up as many leagues as you want. Just make sure your dummy accounts don't beat you.

If cardsfan sets up five dummy accounts just to boost his score, I'd be worried about how much time he has on his hands.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2017

I forgot to mention. Someone (Daryl I think) bid $85 for Tarik Cohen in the DVDTalk Auction League. That's the one league that I wasn't able to get him to handcuff Jordan Howard. That's A LOT.

LOL

Would anybody pick up the Vikings D in a 12 team league? My opponent dropped him for the Bengals D vs Texans tomorrow.

I pray Watson does not throw 6 Ints.

I have the Tampa D at home vs the Bears but maybe the Vikings D will struggle this year and a road game at PIT is not too enticing.

As a Howard owner, I'm really concerned about Cohen, but it's hard for me to see him being an every-week start at 5'6" and 181 lbs. I happened to start Charlie Garner years ago when he had his breakout game, but he was never reliable.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2017

Anyone ever have one of those weeks where you just have too much good talent/matchups to play everyone?

I've gotta choose 5 of these to play (non PPR): Cook, Hunt, Montgomery, Fitzgerald, Evans, AJ Green.

Pretty obviously going with AJ, Evans, Cook and Hunt. Leaning toward playing Montgomery (matchup) even though Fitz is going to get a bazillion more targets with DJ gone.

Darren Sproles and Danny Woodhead are about the only guys that size who have had decent longevity at the running back position. Woodhead is really starting to break down now. I just feel that it would be hard for your body to hold up when you're running into guys who outweigh you by over 120lbs.

I really like Montgomery, but Fitz has a great matchup going against the Colts.

I have indeed had that problem, but fortunately for me it hasn't been an issue so far this season.

Besides, whenever I start feeling like I'm loaded, inevitably two studs get hurt that week.

After that Thursday game I can't tell you how excited I was to have the one two punch of Kareem Hunt and David Johnson for the rest of the season...

I would based on the MNF game and their reputation, but I can't say I've done an extensive study on Ds this year.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2017

It never hurts to take that FA shot. I was 12th in waiver priority but still landed two of my five bids--Buck Allen and Cooper Kupp--to fill out my roster. Unfortunately someone sniped the Oakland kicker so I may have to stream kickers to replace Sturgis.

D'Onta Foreman and Gio Bernard are my only Thursday players this week so I don't have to make any early decisions.

Good for fantasy when the Thursday game doesn't have many guys teams are starting. But a bad sign for those hoping for a good game to watch. I just have the Bengals DST in one league, so I'm rooting for a total slopfest

In one league, I ended up dropping my WR6 (Zay Jones) for David Johnson. It's PPR, so maybe Zay will make me regret it this weekend. And maybe I'll be feeling the bench roster spot pinch once my bye weeks for QB and TE (positions I don't have a backup on my roster) roll around in week 8. But I'm figuring by then we may know more about how DJ's recovery is going. And the upside of maybe having DJ for my team starting in week 10 is huge (at least if my team is in the playoff hunt).

Agreed! Many fantasy managers, even those in money leagues, don't use waiver claims very often (even when waivers reset each week). They might not really sit down and dedicate time to roster moves until Thursday afternoon (and sometimes not even then). Fantasy is still a ton of luck, but these little moves can add up over time.

So Odell says he's dealing with a six to eight week injury. He couldn't have figured that out before my draft?

Wow, that totally blows. I was sure I was going to take him until Julio went at #3 instead of Brown.

That's the owner who also took Glenn Gronkowski in the fourth round, and she explained to me that her husband (who dropped out of our league a couple seasons ago) told her to go WR/RB "unless Gronk was available, then take him anywhere." Her wi-fi dropped out at the bar, so once she got back on, her time was running out so she panicked, searched "Gronk," and selected the one who was available (the real one had gone in the second, of course).

Given how it looked, I was figuring about a month.

The thing that sucks is that it's another late start this week. Last week, I had Beasley available to fill in w/ short notice, but this week I won't have that luxury. I'll need to make the decision (Landry or Beckham) by the late afternoon Sunday games.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2017

Could there just be some misunderstanding about OBJ's injury timeline? In looking at his actual quote, he's saying his injury (high ankle sprain) is typically a 6-8 week recovery. But it seems like he's talking about starting at the time he got the injury (close to 4 weeks ago). And sprains vary tremendously in severity. The fact that he's out there practicing (albeit limited) midweek goes along with what we've been hearing all week from the team. That he's week-to-week, with the hope that he can play this weekend.

Unfortunately the Giants have another (very poorly timed) prime time game coming up. And unlike the last one, on Sunday night so there were 2 Monday night games to pick WRs from if you waited until the game time decision, options are a lot more limited if you want to leave him in your lineup until you hear he isn't playing.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2017

I don't think it's a misunderstanding. He's probably giving cover (setting the original timeline) if he's out again this week.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2017

Was offered OBJ straight up for Kareem Hunt. The high ankle sprain is concerning though....My RB's are also kind of weak, depth wise.

Standard league, non PPR. Start 2 RB, 2 WR and a R/W flex....I am already stacked at WR and a little thin in RB so I am leaning towards a decline the trade. If anything, down the road, I will be looking at trading a WR for an RB. Although, AJ Green can pick it up anytime now....

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2017

It's hard to tell without seeing your WRs and RBs. But as an OBJ owner, if I was offered Kareem Hunt straight up I'd take it. Maybe OBJ plays this week. Maybe that injury screws up the whole year (as high ankle sprains have done the past). Id be happy to be offered a way out.

So from the Hunt side ... I'd just as soon stay out of that mess. Especially if it doesn't really help my team.
