Re: 2017 NFL Preseason Thread

The first preseason game starts tonight. Texans vs Panthers. It's on NFL network tonight.

Also, Devonta Freeman just agreed to a 5 year $41.25M extension with the Falcons.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...edium=referral

He's now the NFL's highest paid RB.

If that doesn't sound a lot. $17M is guaranteed and he got a $15M signing bonus.

Considering RB probably has the shortest lifespan of most NFL players, that's good money for him to take now before he's washed up by 30.

Re: 2017 NFL Preseason Thread

Thanks for starting the thread! I've been wondering about that since the HOF game.

Makes sense for Freeman, not only as a RB but an undersized one at that. He's done well so far but he'll likely break down when he's on my team.

Its the first Chiefs game of the year tonight. I expect to watch the first half, but I'll probably fall asleep towards the end. I think everyone wants to see Pat Mahomes play in the 3rd quarter.

Perfect. Even if he appeals and gets it reduced, unlikely he'll get it down to just 2 games. Cowboys play Cards 3rd game. Always good to have other team missing key players.

Re: 2017 NFL Preseason Thread

NFL Network thinks it's a huge long shot that he would try to drag this out and appeal or take this to court like Tom Brady.

There's testimony and photo evidence of the violence and they don't believe the girl is lying or someone else did it.

Re: 2017 NFL Preseason Thread

So where does this put Elliot not in regard to fantasy drafts? 6 games is a lot. I'm thinking he's maybe a 4th or 5th rounder now?

Re: 2017 NFL Preseason Thread

Cowboys only have 1 division game in their first 6. That might also factor into the decision to appeal or not.

Show me the evidence that the cops didn't have. If it's there and it's conclusive, then sure suspend him. But this entire "alternate justice system" process, which in this case took over a year, still reeks...

I find this a little odd. I want to beat the best teams at full strength, that's how you measure yourself.

Bills stocking up on 2018 draft picks.

2 1st rounders
2 2nd rounders
2 3rd rounders

They'll be in the 2018 qb draft derby for sure.

Waaaa. There has always been a different set of rules for the league than than the law. Here's a thought for your team: stop drafting fucking idiots!

I don't give a shit about measuring anything. I only care about wins. If this gets them a win, I am all good with it.

The rules and the process are not consistent at all. That's the problem.

And everyone cheered wildly when the federal court affirmed Goodell's right to not be consistent at all.

Like it matters that Zeke's gonna miss 6 games. With that offensive line, they can plug in any RB and he'll get you 100 yards a game.

Re: 2017 NFL Preseason Thread

Bills do two big trades, Sammy Watkins and a 6th to the Rams for EJ Gaines and a 2nd round pick. They replace him with Jordan Matthews and a 3rd for their starting CB Ronald Darby.

From the Rams perspective, it seems to make sense... you have a year left to see if Watkins can be healthy, if he is you have a chance to convince him to stay, plus you get to see what you have in Goff with an actual weapon. On the other hand, it should make Rams fans nervous when they basically just acquired the Bills WR corps.

edit: oops, of course it was posted above.

Jerry Jones is reportedly furious with the decision according to Schefter.

Zeke is appealing.

Great another potential long and drawn out legal battle.

Bills stocking up and basically hanging Tyrod out to dry.

Don't like the move for the Rams although if Watkins does well, he's franchise-able.
