Tim Tebow continues his hot stretch with another home run in Class A

Tebow is hitting .317 since his promotion from Class A-Advance
by Matt Snyder
15h ago 1 min read

Former Heisman Trophy winner and current Mets farmhand Tim Tebow has been pretty hot with the stick since his promotion from Class A to Class A-Advanced. He stayed hot Sunday, going 2 for 4 with a home run for St. Lucie.

Tebow, 29, is hitting .317/.398/.537 with four doubles, one triple, four homers and 15 RBI in 25 games since his promotion. Sunday was his 10th start in left field since his move to High-A, compared to three in center field and 11 at DH.

We can all see where this is going, right?

1.Tebow is playing well.
2.The Mets aren't contenders and that's not likely to change.
3.Rosters can expand in September.
4.Mets GM Sandy Alderson has essentially admitted that signing Tebow was for publicity.

See you in Citi Field this September, Mr. Tebow.

This year and if the Mets are less than 10 games out of the wild card the day Tebow debuts, they'll win it.

Clayton Kershaw is expected to miss four to six weeks based on an initial diagnosis of the Dodgers ace's injured back, according to Fox Sports.

That sucks but the Dodgers will be fine. They have a huge cushion in the division and Kershaw will be back in time to get a few tune up starts before the playoffs.

Maybe, I mentioned this in last week's thread but the bigger concern for me is that this is the second back injury in as many years. Hopefully this is completely different, but still scary.

Re: 2017 MLB Week 17 July 24-30

The thing with calling Tebow up in September is that it would cost the Mets a spot on their 40-man protected roster. The Mets admitted signing him was a publicity stunt and they never expected him to be decent at High A ball, which is the equivalent of Division I College baseball. They sent him there to crush his baseball dreams. He's actually hitting well enough that Tebow should be in double A.

Kershaw's back looked like it locked up on him. He couldn't even fully extend during his pitching motion. I'm starting to worry about his long-term future. Back injuries only get worse as you get older. I don't think it will permanently sideline him but there goes another Cy Young that should have been his down the drain.

Yeah, Tebow is not worth a spot on the 40 man. Maybe move him up to AA this year and invite him to camp next year and go from there. In the meantime, the low minors teams have been getting bigger crowds, which is cool for them (and hopefully some newcomers will keep going after Tebow is gone) and probably nice for the other players to play in front of a lot of people.

Which sticks with there was no downside to signing him and there has been some minor benefit .. unless they add him to the 40 man roster as a publicity stunt this year.

It's actually the third in four years if you count the back injury flying back from Australia in 2014. It sucks, but this is probably going to be an on-going issue for him the rest of his career

Tebow isn't getting called up, this is still a professional team and the Mets are not just going to call up somebody in A ball that doesn't deserve it. However, Tebow has at least proved that it wasn't a publicity stunt for him as it is actually quite impressive he has played so well in high A ball after not playing for so long. If he sticks it out he might get a taste of the bigs in a couple of year but age is not on his side already being 30.

I would agree with this, you have to give him an A for effort a B for results. If he is willing to keep going and work his way through the minors, there is no real reason for the Mets to stop him so long as he is not taking playing time from a legit prospect or a spot on the 40 man roster

Re: 2017 MLB Week 17 July 24-30

Tebow's real problem is that he doesn't have a position. If you blink, you can almost envision him hitting well enough to be a 4th outfielder/pinch hitter. His defense actually needs a lot more work than his hitting. Teams have become far more cautious when it comes to mediocre defensive players.

Defense is also more improvable for a good athlete who just needs reps. The hitting is the part that is more critical, I'd think.

The Cards win one late. Extra enjoyable since it seems so rare.

As frustrating as this season has been, the young guys have sure delivered. Paul DeJong with another home run. Harrison Bader gets called up, hits a leadoff double in the 9th for his first big league hit and races home to score the winning room. Cool to see his smile ear-to-ear on 2nd base and his family celebrating in the stands.

Dodgers became just the fifth team in the expansion era to reach 70 wins in 101 games.

No his problem is being able to hit. If he turns into a good hitter they'll find a place in the field for him. He's a great athlete, you can plug him into LF and he'll do just fine.

16-2 Royals over the Tigers, Grand Slam by Hosmer, and a fight in the 9th inning.

Their whole season so far has been unbelievable. They just moved to 40 games over .500 for the first time since 1974 at 71-31(!), just completed their 13th series sweep which ties a franchise season record -- while still in July(!), AND opened up a season-high 12.5 game lead in what was a very tight division race through June.

It's a lot less predicable post-season than the NBA, so we don't often see the best teams advance, but if we don't get a World Series between the Dodgers and the equally impressive Houston Astros, we will be missing out.

Adrian Beltre is a god damn american treasure. He should be in the HoF just for the shit he pulls on the field.

Eight homers in the first four innings, and a 15-1 lead.
