Bartolo Colon's fans may want to catch his next few starts. If the Braves had other options, he'd likely get taken out of the rotation. He's looking awfully toasty these days. At his age, your talent can go quickly.

Against the mighty Cardinals. lol! In all seriousness, it is time for some change in management and some roster purging for the Cards.

He's the most improbable member of the 4-homer club. Most of the others had 200-300 homers in their careers.

There hasn't been much talk yet but the homerun rate over the past two months has now surpassed the steroid era. This is before the country has really even had a heatwave. The homer rate could be historic in July.

MLB almost certainly juiced the ball this year.

And here I thought "Hard-Hittin' Mark Whiten" was a random member of the club!

I know Gennett's name, but I guess it's just because he's been in the NL Central.

Mariners sign Jean Segura to a five-year, $70 million extension. He's 27 and came over in the Taijuan Walker deal, meaning the Mariners gambled on giving up the high-ceiling-but-hasn't-put-it-all-together pitcher in exchange for the can-he-duplicate-his-career-offensive-year shortstop. Time will tell, but he's just hit a ton since coming over, and they also got Haniger, who started off great before injury.

Re: 2017 MLB Week 10 June 5-11

I think the Cardinals have lost 14 games (5 of their last 6 losses qualify) when they've led by multiple runs. That's more games than they lost all of last season with the same circumstances. It's been a weird trend. They've been outscored 42-18 in the 7th inning (and I think every inning after that). And while the bullpen hasn't been good, the back end has been above average. The offense has been poor and when they do score, they get it out of the way early and then go to sleep. Overall, it's been brutal to watch.

Only 11 out of 30 MLB teams have winning records at the begin of play on 6-8.

Tried to tell the Cubs fans not to get too excited about their narrow wins over the Cards. Cincinnati is on the verge of destroying them in a 4-game series.

The only positive spin on this is perhaps this will lead to a time when the Cards can be sellers. Barring injury, Lance Lynn could be one of the top trade targets for a contender. Houston would be a great fit, though they might not want to deal with St. Louis. St. Louis would never stoop to full tank mode, but they need to change some things up.

The Cubs just don't look like the same team as last year. All the pitchers had great seasons in 2016 and have taken a step back.

Colorado, you mean?

There's no question they don't look like the same team. In addition to the starting pitching, the defense has taken a big step back, and I don't think you can blame it all on Schwarber. And now it looks like Addison Russell is having some legal trouble.

The good thing is that no one is running away with the division, so the hope is they can stay close and get right in time to make the playoffs.

No one will need 100 wins this year to win the division that is for sure. I would expect/hope they pick up some more pitching in a trade, but it might be tough with not really that many teams totally out of the running.

It wasn't like the Cubs were an unstoppable force in last year's playoffs. If the Giants had a good bullpen, they would have beaten the Cubs. And then it took them coming back from 3-1 to win the World Series.

Maybe they are the new Giants and can only win titles in even years.

They definitely weren't unstoppable, as there were precarious moments in every round. But this is baseball, not the NBA, and the playoffs is always a big crapshoot.

We'll see how this year goes, but I'd be OK with winning a title every other year.

The Cardinals made a flurry of moves today that are not likely to help the team. They designated Peralta, who is not the problem in the roster, for assignment and called up the next guy to 3,000 hits in Wong. They reassigned their third base coach coach and assistant hitting coach. Wins are on the way!!!

I think Haniger will be activated today, finally.

The Rockies have been amazing this year. Hard not to root for them.

In the immortal words of John Lennon, it's easy if you try.

Alex Wood comes back off the DL today, his 23 innings scoreless streak still intact.
Turner hit a 2-run HR in his first at bat back from the DL yesterday.

The Cardinals would be fine if Wainwright was still a top ace but I don't think that version is coming back.

Cards now 2-0 since the changes. Does it count since they were against the Phillies?

Carlos Martinez with his first career shutout/complete game. He was robbed of one a few weeks ago when he threw 9 shutout innings but the Cards didn't score for him.

Thank God the Orioles don't give a flying fuck about starting pitching. The big concern is that have enough relief pitchers to pitch in the blow out losses.

Don't forget Wade(5 Inning Fuck) Miley whom by himself can burn out anyone's bullpen.
