Re: 2017 MLB Week 8 May 22-28

According to MASN.com, Orioles Chris Davis has taken either 30 or 31 called third strike's. That's a lot. Most everytime the pitch is right down the middle and isn't even close to being borderline. He has a golf like swing so handling pitches up in the zone are more difficult.

I will never forget the Tigers last out of their season last year when Upton took a third called strike.

I always thought with two strikes that you are supposed to protect the plate. I guess not anymore since batters don't care at the rate they strikeout.

I thought about Turner but it didn't sound like he was going to miss a huge amount of time. Plus I got tired of googling injury severities.

Does MLB keep records that go back this far?

When was the last time the Red Sox played a game under three hours long?

The Tigers, underachievers again. Pathetic.

Cardinals starting pitchers have allowed 6 earned runs in their last 6 games. And the team is 1-5 over that stretch. That's not easy to do.

Yesterday, their staff gave up 3 hits to the Dodgers in nearly 13 innings and struck out 19. And lost.

How is Broxton still on the team?

I'd like to believe his time is coming to an end. But I've been thinking that for a few weeks. It blows my mind that he's being used in high leverage spots.

The Dodgers just about wasted a "complete game" gem from Kershaw. Glad to see that they pulled out a "W" eventually.

Yes there was a rain delay that pushed back the start of yesterday's Giants/Cubs game but once it started it only took 2 hrs and 5 minutes to complete. That's pretty good in this day and age.

Re: 2017 MLB Week 8 May 22-28

The first game of a straight doubleheader between DET/CHI WS has been postponed but the second game is still scheduled. WTF. I have been watching MLB since 1965 and can never recall a first game being postponed while the second remains' scheduled.

They should wait it out and play both games.

One other thought. Why not play all make up games in September when the rosters are expanded?

That is weird. I guess they expect a weather break and think it would get too late to play both.

I assume that makeup games are a complicated logistical issue in trying to match up the teams when it's most convenient for both.

Orioles finally put Jimenez in the bullpen. Leave him there. Pitch him 4 innings twice a week.

There is no need to pitch him one fucking inning a game(he's a freakin starter for God's Sake).

Jimenez is the least of the O's problems. Manny can't hit for shit now. Swinging for the fences. The middle of the lineup is a turd sandwich. The Davis contract is going to kill them.

The worst thing is thing is that their 2 most valuable commodities either suck right now (Manny) or are hurt (Britton). So even in the unlikely case of a sell-off come July, they're not going to get a good price.

I've never seen a hitter(Chris Davis) take so many right down the middle called third strikes.

Trout is hurt. Fun!

As if the Angels were unwatchable enough. If he misses time, the only thing keeping fans tuned in will be Pujols 600th.
