Re: 2017 NFL Draft - Thursday, April 27 - Saturday, April 29

For what the Bears gave up to move up is a drop in the bucket compared to what the Skins gave up to move up 3 spots in the 2012 Draft. As the Colts showed that draft, really suck and "earn" it that way. It's what has always pissed me off about the Skins. They never suck bad enough when they are bad -- which is frequent.

Funny thing is that the Bears beat the Niners in Week 13 last year....lose that game and no trade would have been necessary.

Do the Bengals still have Bernard and Hill?

Mort doesn't sound good but it's just nice to see him working again.

And it's not in any way a move that will help get them over the hump next year. They really weren't a team in desperate need of a QB - and won't even play him this season.

On the other hand, they never have a great QB in their franchise. If Reid is convinced this guy will be a great QB in the future, I guess grabbing him at 10 makes sense. They would never get one late in the first round (and if they hadn't done this, chances are high that they'd be drafting late in the first round again next season). It's a big calculated risk, but I trust Reid enough to give him some benefit of the doubt. I sure hope Mahomes pans out, if not it really, really sets the franchise back.
But this isn't the Browns - this is their first First-Round QB since Todd Blackledge in 1983 (and we all remember how that turned out). Maybe taking the Home Run swing is actually a smart move? I'm not sure...
Calculated move thinking ahead 2-3 years when Brady is probably done. Figure Alex ain't going to be the guy. QB wise, the AFC in 2 or so years - what are you looking at for playoff contending QBs. OAK/Carr (emphasis on OAK ), Luck, maybe Mariota -- everybody else is on the tail end of their career if not out of the league.

That being said, I'm always skeptical of B12 QBs. There's little defense in college....there's zero defense in the B12.

Jets continue to be the Jets and draft another Safety in the 2nd round. Being a Jets fan...the gift that keeps on giving.

Drew Pearson egging on the Eagles crowd

Seahawks draft a center but announce him as a tackle. Supposedly he can play any position on the line and is 6'6" 310 so we'll see.

That was awesome.

And he wasn't done. He kept on trolling Eagles fan afterwards when Coleen Wolfe interviewed him. Then she said: "What if I told you I'm a Eagles fan?"
He said: "Well you're so cute I might change my mind".

Just as I thought - Browns taking a much smaller risk on a QB outside of the first round... especially since they already took 3 picks before him.

Kizer may not pan out for them, but I'm liking how smart the Browns are being this year.

The Cards defense keeps getting more interesting. A lot of dudes that don't have a definable single position.

Seahawks...draft...my mind will forever associate this image with those two words:

I kinda like the move as a Jet fan (and Florida Gator homer ) but who else do we have at those positions? Calvin Pryor and Marcus Gilchrist - it's no wonder we got roasted on every opponent's passing plays.

Even with that insurance policy that Orange Bowl injury cost Butt a ton of money, and a never ending flow of jokes with his QBs name. I guess Mccaffrey and others were smart to sit out of Bowl games.

Also I guess Trubisky was booed when shown on screen in Chicago at the Bulls Celtics game.

As they should have. Said it then...if you're not in the CFP or at NY6 bowl game, then why play. There's really nothing to play for. If you're not in the CFP or at least a major bowl game, then there's no upside to it.

Glad to see Fournette and Mccaffrey get drafted high. Shows that NFL teams don't care. They want healthy legs. Then they'll run them into the ground.

bottomline is nobody knows JACKSHIT of how these players will turn out yet.
Wasn't Russell Wilson heavily ridiculed when he was first drafted.

That's what I sort of hate about the draft now is the analysts, media and even the fans now who chime in with 'great pick' or 'terrible pick' like they know exactly how these guys will turn out? You can say you like or dislike the pick, but the definitive comments just get annoying.

Well, just google (insert year here) draft grades ... and see how meaningful they are.
