For the poll, I don't think the Pirates have to do anything right now. Marte comes back in July and they can evaluate then whether they'll make a run or trade guys off. They'll simply hope for the best for the time being.

I agree. With two Wild Card spots, there's no need to do anything rash like scrapping the season before July any more.

This video is worth checking out. Chris Coghlan with an incredible effort to score over Yadier Molina.

Re: 2017 MLB Week 4 Apr. 24-30

Hey, not every poll can be a winner.

Mariners DFA'd Leonys Martin, which was a surprise. He's a great defender, of course, but his hitting early last year was a nice surprise. He fell off, though, and got off to a terrible start this year. He's also starting to get expensive.

To add injury to yesterday's insulting 19-9 loss to the Tigers, the Mariners lost Felix to "shoulder tightness," and Mitch Haniger, who came over from AZ in the Walker-Segura deal and has been hitting a ton, also left with an oblique injury.

Utility man Taylor Motter has been playing with Segura out. He's hitting .250/.311/.625 with three singles, six doubles, and five homers. He's 27 and came over from the Rays in a minor offseason deal after making his ML debut last year.

Pretty wild play. I can never keep the new rules straight, but would he likely have been called safe anyway because Yadi wasn't giving him a running lane?

Shelby Miller is going to need TJ surgery. That sucks. He was a good candidate for being a bounceback player and was on his way with his first 3 starts.

That Coghlan effort to score over Molina looks like its going to be the only Blue Jays highlight of this season. I hate to bury this team this early, but they haven't shown any glimmer of hope in April. Hoping that May starts off better...

A's pitcher Kendal Graveman made a nice unassisted double play last night.

Meh, he didn't generate any interest from any other team and is with Triple-A Tacoma.

I'm shocked that no one wanted to pay five million bucks for a .111 hitter.

I was at Yankees vs. Sox at Fenway last night. Great pitcher's duel. Sale was dominating, but you can't win when you don't score, and Tanaka won the battle in the end.

Too many Yankees fans at the park for my liking. Actually, it's pretty fun, and there's a lot of good-natured teasing going on from both sides.

O's bullpen full collapse tonight. Givens and O'Day fine. Brach -- awful. Need Britton back. 11-11 in the 10th.

The run has been impressive, especially since they haven't been very sharp in several areas. Hope to keep the momentum going.

White Sox tanking isn't going so well. After beating Detroit tonight they're alone in 1st.

Adam Eaton had to be helped off the field for the Nats.

It was mentioned(referring to the current Blue Jays) on an on screen graphic during the Orioles telecast last night that only one MLB team has ever went to the post season after being 10 games below .500 anytime during the month of April. The only team was the 1951 NY Giants.

Last night was painful to watch. Now watching Jimenez is even more painful.
