Re: 2017 NHL Off-Season Thread

Alright, my jersey has come in. I have until Friday to decide if I keep it plain or customize it. I need some input here : I don't want one withmy name on it (I realize that's really lame), I'm not sure if any of our current players are good enough to warrant getting their jersey (maybe Fleury 29, but he may be pushed by Pickard if he struggles). I could go with "Golden Knights 17" like the mock up, maybe just "Knights 17", "Vegas 17", or just leave it blank. It's $70 more for the lettering and numbering, but I do kind of like it.

Thoughts?

That's what I'd do too.

Wait and see how things play out. I think expansion teams have a lot of turnover in the first season.

Re: 2017 NHL Off-Season Thread

Can you get it personalized later?

Do you guys think "Golden Knights 17" is too busy and/or redundant?

I'm sure you can get it lettered up later - I know shops around here do that.

Putting anything on the back other than a player on the team seems kind of strange to me.

What about "G. Knights" and the 17? Then it looks more like a name. I dunno.

Another vote for leaving it blank until you decide on a player.

Just after the story of Seattle's new arena annunement, Bettman and the Flames are starting their "we can't be competitive without a new arena" talk.

I'd imagine that the NHL would rather have a 32nd team (and 16th Western Conference team) and another $500M expansion fee paid than deal with relocation drama.

Sorry if I missed it, but are we doing the fantasy league again this year?

Stars did this a few years ago ... I went to a Tuesday game against the Blue Jackets .. hard to beat near free hockey (of course had to pay around $10 for ticketmaster fees)

If we are doing it again, please don't bring back the couple of guys who don't actually play it.

Like to get back to 10 teams.

Re: 2017 NHL Off-Season Thread

We get our first glimpse of the Golden Knights today when they play their first Pre-Season game at Vancouver at 5E/2P. It will be on the NHL Network.
I got an invitation to watch them at an invitation-only Training Camp this week. I am off Wednesday afternoon so I will head down to Downtown Summerlin and check them out then. Not sure what I will be seeing there, but it should be interesting for an hour or so. My first tickets are for the second pre-season home game on the 28th.

Re: 2017 NHL Off-Season Thread

If anyone wants to do a fantasy league again let me know and I will set it up.

The season starts 2 weeks from tonight so we would have to draft next week. I'd like to get atleast 8 people. Again, please make sure you are willing to commit to play the entire season if you want to play.

I am suggesting next Wednesday or Thursday at 9:00 Eastern for the draft

That does look really nice. T-Mobile is more intimate, with only two levels of seating, but not that high tech. Love those LED lights on the roof. Badass.

I went to training camp today for my invitation-only practice. The new practice facility is really nice. Two full-sized ice rinks with seating and standing areas. A full restaurant upstairs. A Golden Knights apparel and hockey gear store.
The practice itself was kinda boring. Just a fraction of the team running drills. No hitting. I dunno, it was still cool to see I guess.
I took a couple of pictures :

Note the practice jerseys (complete with Velcro-attached names and numbers) and the valet-approved white gloves.

I got an authentic jersey at the Practice Facility today. I wasn't scheduled to pick up mine from T-Mobile until Friday. Thanks to you guys, I decided to go blank and I'm glad I did. I had ordered a 48, but at this place I tried a 50 and it fit perfect. Plus it was cheaper -- $180 for an Authentic Adidas jersey. It's really nice. They had Replica jerseys there as well for $120. They looked pretty good as well (certainly not cheap-looking), but not quite as nice on the details like the secondary logo patches on the shoulder and breathable mesh on the upper shoulders. I got a refund on my t-Mobile pre-purchase and now have a very nice-looking jersey for opening night. I think $180 is a heck of a good deal. Might pick up a secondary jersey next season as well, once they design one.

I emailed Ken(DrEvil) through Yahoo and haven't heard back. I noticed he hasn't been here for awhile.

It looks like the league is auto set to start. But that's not going to work with not knowing who's playing and no commish.

If that's not happening then you can count me in and also Skydogs Flyers.

Re: 2017 NHL Off-Season Thread

This season I will be the OldBoy of professional hockey so I know way too little to do fantasy.

Hopefully I will be schooled enough after a quarter-season in the stands and closely following the sport before the Playoffs for a change to be able to join you guys in 2018.

I got a Kopitar jersey. With hockey jerseys (at least authentic ones) you usually go a little higher than your normal size to accommodate the pads.
