EJ Manuel signed with the Raiders. Definitely a better backup option than McGloin and Connor Cook.

One less possible destination for Kaepernick. Seems like Jets or bust for that guy.

Damn-Just read that Gale Sayers has dementia(according to NFL.com).

I've been watching the NFL since 1965 and he is the best running back I've ever seen. He didn't play that long because of bad knees
but he was an automatic induction into the Pro Football HOF.

So Kaepernick goes from taking the 49ers to the Super Bowl, getting a big pay day, to being unemployed and every General Manager thinking he's poison and not wanting anything to do with him.

Interesting article on Kaepernick and his being possibly blacklisted by the NFL.

I don't agree he's being blacklisted. I just think he can't play anymore. And there's a difference between being blacklisted and not wanting to sign a guy who is a complete distraction to be your backup QB. Is Johnny Manziel being blacklisted too then?

That's not a fair comparison. Manziel isn't even good enough to be a backup plus he fucks up constantly. Kaepernick can still take the ball when he needs to. He won't win you any games, but he can take reps. There are QBs with worse resumes than Kap who have jobs.

But I think it's too soon to say he's being blackballed. Jay Cutler hasn't signed yet and teams are still filling out back up spots. I do think he'll eventually sign but if he doesn't, it's not because he can't play. It'll be because he's been deemed a "distraction".

And the President of the United States takes credit for it!

Re: 2017 NFL Off-Season Thread

Personally I think the Manziel and Kaep comparison is sound. Their careers are now both affected by their limited ability on the field and the off the field stuff that causes teams to go in a different direction when the players ability doesn't make them worth the risk.

That said, I would still be cool with the Seahawks singing Kaep as a backup if he is wiling to get paid as a backup and accept the role.

Looks like Rex Ryan will be working at ESPN for free.

Some weird offset language in Rex's Bills contract allows the Pegula's to take his ESPN salary.

Re: 2017 NFL Off-Season Thread

Tebow won a bunch of playoff games and couldn't get a job. Vince Young had some pretty good years before becoming unemployable. I don't think he's blacklisted but Kaep's antics have surely lowered his chance of being considered in a tie situation. But if he could play someone would sign him.

Raiders relocation vote scheduled for next Monday. Assuming the financing is solid, I can't imagine there would be 9 votes against the move.

Re: 2017 NFL Off-Season Thread

Apparently there is a report that Johnny Manziel met with Sean Payton during Super bowl week. Probably doesn't mean much yet. I would be really surprised if the Saints actually tried signing him.

The NFL is trying to find a Detroit Lions playoff victory celebration but NFL Films doesn't go back that far.
