Damn, a lot of you chuckleheads are taking the team I was figuring would win-now-then-lose-next. Maybe I should rethink my strategy....

Re: DVDTalk 2016 NFL Playoff Survivor Pool (14th Annual)
There are 15 spots left in the pool, and 13 "reserved" spots for long-timers or past champions. This means I can only guarantee TWO spots to folks who don't hold reservations. After those fill, everyone else will be added but will be at risk of being bumped if there's a rush on the reserved spots.

Re: DVDTalk 2016 NFL Playoff Survivor Pool (14th Annual)
Historically, an average of 42% of all players do not survive the first weekend. This means we should expect 14 of 35 to get knocked off. That's Oakland plus either Seattle or Pittsburgh.
The bloodiest first weekend was in 2013, when 39/48 were killed off (81%)
The easiest first weekend was in 2014, when 5/42 were killed off (12%)
Last year (2015), 11/39 were killed off (28%)

Last season every road team won their game this WC weekend. While it's obviously possible it could happen again, I highly doubt it given Oakland's and Miami's QB situation. Personally I think there is a good chance it end up exactly the opposite and we get a total chalk playoffs this year.

So as it stands now we could lose as few as 2/35 if the home teams sweep, or as many as 33/35 if all the road teams win (like last season).
There's always one surprise, but I can't see all four going that route. Even last year when all four road teams won it was hardly shocking. Really only Cincinnati losing at home to Pittsburgh was mildly surprising, and even there that was a division game which are always more likely to be close. In fact, as I recall there were quite a few people who actually picked all four road teams.
