The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels Confirmed For Jan. 9 WWE Raw Episode.
WWE officials have confirmed both The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels a for the Jan. 9, 2017, episode of Monday Night Raw in New Orleans, Louisiana.
That will be just three weeks before the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, which is scheduled for Jan. 29 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. There is speculation WWE is trying to beef up the Royal Rumble in 2017 given the size of the event.
If you remember back to Undertaker's return on the 900th episode of SmackDown he said “WrestleMania will no longer define me” which may mean he will enter himself into the Rumble. As for Michaels, he’s not wanted to come out of retirement but he did make a special appearance at WrestleMania 32 earlier this year, so it's entirely possible he'll get a role at the event.
New Orleans is getting the biggest pay-per-view of the year again as WWE has selected the city to host WrestleMania 34 next year once again. The news was broken by ProWrestlingSheet and later confirmed by other sources.
The last time WWE held WrestleMania in New Orleans was three years ago, where Daniel Bryan won the WWE World Heavyweight title. That night was also a memorable one, with the opening segment featuring Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and The Rock, and it was also the scene of the end of the Undertaker’s streak.
It’s very rare that WrestleMania goes back to a city so quickly after it had already hosted a previous WrestleMania, but New Orleans was a major hit with traveling fans due to the party atmosphere.
An announcement will be held very soon and a press conference is expected next Monday when Raw will be in New Orleans.
The Mercedes-Benz Superdome, which hosted 75,167 fans for WrestleMania XXX, will obviously be the site of WrestleMania while the Smoothie King Center will host the Hall of Fame, Raw, Smackdown, and NXT.

In 2016 my son, his friend, and I went to wrestling shows pretty much every weekend. I finished the year at 118, my son at 117, and his friend at 101. Not sure if we'll ever come close to those types of numbers again, but it was a whole lot of fun.

Re: The 2017 Pro Wrestling Thread.
So, inching closer to an interview with Honky Tonk Man. As with my chat with The Million Dollar Man, thought I'd ask fans in the forum here if there were any q's you'd be interested in having HTM answer?
I'm trying to think back but wasn't HTM always a heel but playing it off like he wasn't? Or did he come in as a face to help Hogan?
from wikipedia:
Quote:
Farris entered the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1986 under the ring name The Honky Tonk Man. Honky made his televised WWF debut on the September 28, 1986 episode of Wrestling Challenge, defeating Terry Gibbs.[2] Originally pushed as a fan favorite wrestler with an Elvis impersonator gimmick, Honky soon cut a series of promos with Jesse "The Body" Ventura that aired on the WWF's syndicated programming asking fans for a "vote of confidence", while these promos actually insulted fans in the manner of Andy Kaufman before him. The results predictably came back negative, and it was not long before Honky turned into a cocky villain and took on "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart as his manager.
Here's something to ask about, also from wiki:
Quote:
In 2010, WWE offered him a place in the WWE Hall of Fame, but he rejected it
Going through old boxes of magazines that I'm purging and found this 2000 WWF Axess program. Freaky to have had Benoit sign it. He wasn't very friendly. I had thanked him for putting on the Owen tribute match with Brett when he was still with WCW. He barely looked up at me. Sad that half of the wrestlers on this particular page are dead now.

Hmm, for some reason I thought Hogan brought him in as a sort of "sheriff" to help him in one of his feuds but I guess I was probably only 10 or 11 at time so.

Re: The 2017 Pro Wrestling Thread.
HTM actually emailed today...that's just an odd sentence that I never thought I'd be writing. We are setting up a phone chat for hopefully next week so some of these q's should get incorporated, especially the HOF thing and Warrior questions because I have wondered about myself. I am also curiosu on how he felt being paired with Greg Valentine as a tag wrestler.
Am I wrong, or is HTM still the longest Intercontinental champ or did somebody in the modern area beat that record?
Wait Wrestle Kingdom is going to air on AXS just a couple of weeks from now? No six month or whatever delay?
Yup! You can always stream it right away via NJPW's Streaming Service but if you are waiting for AXS, they'll be showing it starting on 1/13/17 in a strange four-part event.
