Re: The 2017 Pro Wrestling Thread.

Been getting to watch / photograph the Impact tapings here in Canada. You know, I've never watched TNA...err...Impact but they put on a pretty good live show.

They could have shown a clip of the WWE2k panel that cost Jim Ross his job after Flair disrupted the event by being drunk, a little after Reid had died.
The only nitpick I have was them constantly resorting to Youtube clips for footage that WWE could have easily okayed. Didn't help that the best looking clips in the whole doc was TNA's.

I'm starting to feel Ric's drunken RAW appearance during the Shield/Evolution feud was when HHH told Ric he was going to rehab. And that it wasn't an option.

Re: The 2017 Pro Wrestling Thread.

I wonder the same thing though maybe those clips were from the 70's and that was the best they could come up.

It was a shame Hogan and Flair had to do a double main event at Wrestlemania when they should have been the main attraction.

I doubt Hogan would let Flair win. Surprised Hogan admitted Flair was better than him.

Sucked what happened to his son and said he should have been a dad and not a friend.

I wish I had the life of Ric Flair.

Re: The 2017 Pro Wrestling Thread.

Hogan has always said good things about Flair and about how Flair is a much better wrestler than him. But yeah, Vince really fucked up on not having Hogan vs Flair as the WM8 main event. Apparently their styles clashed on house shows and the matches were not good at all, so they pulled the plug. It's funny cause one of my favorite matches ever on RAW is this one from Hulk vs Flair from circa 2002

Today is the 20th anniversary of the Montreal Screwjob. Can't believe it's been so long

Re: The 2017 Pro Wrestling Thread.

I saw Hogan/Flair at a house show. I dont remember the match itself being bad, but I was disappointed it ended with a countout. They should have stuck with that main event.

12 years is a long time, but it feels like it was longer than that.

What purpose does it serve for the company to have a figure like Stephanie emasculate every single wrestler in the company?

Jason Jordan has 0 charisma acting skills. They either need to turn him like they did with the Rock back in the day or get him a new gimmick

"Thank you Wyatt!"

You'd think WWE couldn't be so blind as to ignore the fact that Jason Jordan isn't working. And he doesn't move merch or have the kids into like Cena and Reigns so pushing the whole "He's controversial" thing doesn't cut it.

They really blew the American Alpha team but jamming them down the fans' throats. The tag team dynamic with Chad Gable was a good one.

EDIT: And HHH destroys him to a huge face pop!

Re: The 2017 Pro Wrestling Thread.

Just saw that Jack Swagger has signed with Bellator.

Also, Paige has to be the most stupid person in the company. Apparently she already has backstage heat with the company because she couldn't keep her mouth shut about being back on the road with WWE and instead decided to post it on Instagram. It's rumored that she was supposed to be the fifth women on the Raw team for Survivor Series but that got squashed after she made posts on instagram.

Also, why the fuck are they making Angle look so weak? I know they are moving towards Angle vs HHH at Wrestlemania but man, that segment was totally one sided.

I'm OK with it. I would rather see a slow burn with this story than the accelerated pace that everything else seems to have these days. I actually think the Jason Jordan thing has the potential to be a really great example of long-form storytelling so long as they take their time with it.

THANK YOU!
I've said this for quite some time. There are too many dull people out there that would benefit from having what Brock has.

I thought Raw and Smackdown were both good this week. I'm actually excited for Survivor Series. The card changed so much for the better since the card was first announced.

Re: The 2017 Pro Wrestling Thread.

So New Day sneaks into the building to surprise RAW yet they play their video on the wall & play their music. Raw sneaks into the building to attack Smackdown and they play the Shield's entrance and then the Raw theme. Could they at least try to pretend these are SURPRISE attacks that no one knew where going to happen including the production team???

Re: The 2017 Pro Wrestling Thread.

Ok, some quicky answers to your q's for Rick Steamboat:

What was his initial reaction to being asked to dress as a literal dragon and breathe fire in his second run with WWF?
-He actually didn't mind it at first though he only too two days training to breath the fire. However, after awhile of tasting the chemicals each night, he didn't like it so much.

Did it feel like a slight considering he had already gotten over in WWF in his first run as just a wrestler?
-He didn't think so as many wrestlers at the time had over the top gimmicks.

Was this something that he knew that they wanted him to do when he re-signed with them or something that was sprung on him after the fact?
-Vince wanted him repackaged from the get go.

Does he regret taking time off after Wrestlemania III?
-No. He admits it wasn't the best career move but his first (and only) child was about to be born and he thought being there for his family was more needed.

What wrestler would he had love to wrestle but never did?
-HBK, he didn't even hestiate

Does he prefer his run in NWA/WCW or WWF?
-He actually loved his time in Florida when he was just learning the ropes

If you could come back for a retirement match, which current wrestler would you want to work with?
-On the current roster he said Seth Rollins
