Harden
Lebron
Kawhi
Westbrook.

That would be my ballot.

Re: 2016-17 NBA Regular Season Thread

Well there was that guy Bill Russell who was hogging all the MVPs and championships.

I didn't realize that Robertson averaged a triple double over his first five seasons. And still only won MVP once because of Wilt and Russell.

Total agreement, as I understand that it's dumb to play any of these guys 82 games.

All I'm saying is you rest them against lottery teams that aren't nationally televised during the season. Lebron was rested against my Sixers last year and I never complained because it was a local TV game.

But National TV contract is what pays everyone's salaries. So they should atleat respect the ESPN/TNT/ABC national games during the season cause that's what fans like me tune in for.

What is the point of having a national televised game on ABC with the 2 best teams in the West if you're going to sit ALL of your starters?

I'm sure the players/coaches wouldn't be thrilled if they had to take less money each year if they did away with all national games in the regular season? That's why they're hypocrites.

The NBA needs to be smarter with their schedule. If they are going to have these top National games with the top teams, don't have them be the second game of a back to back.

I think part of the problem is when they added the ESPN Wed/Friday National Games a decade ago. They used to just have the National TNT games on Thursday Nights and then a Sunday Double Header on NBC (back in the late 90's/early 00's). You could show on Thursday night at 8PM/Jordan Bulls, then 10:30 the Lakers Shaq/Kobe. That would give each team a few days off if you wanted to show them on a Sunday Double Header too.

Now they have National Games on Wed/Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday this time of year and there are only so many teams that they can showcase, so they get stuck putting some of them back to back.

Mozgov shut down for the year by the Lakers.

He got paid $16M for his 7 pts, 5 boards and 0.6 block. What an expensive disaster this signing was.

Re: 2016-17 NBA Regular Season Thread

Deng shut down as well. In the espn article, I saw this

Quote:
Before he was fired, Kupchak told the Los Angeles Times it could take "five or six years" to evaluate the success of the free-agent signings of Deng and Mozgov.
Both were signed to 4 year contracts and it could take 5 or 6 years to evaluate the success of those signings? How about 5 or 6 months? Mitch deserved to get fired for that statement alone.

Re: 2016-17 NBA Regular Season Thread

Yeah Deangelo in particular had a terrible game off the bench, and the announcers were ripping him for being disconnected. Just the fact that Clarkson is starting and Russell isn't even the starting two is a bad sign for him.

Of course if they lose the pick, the Lakers will have to make up with him in a hurry. It doesn't help that Pheonix is in full tank mode, shutting down Bledsoe to the bewilderment of his coach.

Now that Saric has been balling since the all star break he's most likely going to get rookie of the year. That makes me happy that Embiid isn't going to get it since before Saric's surge there was really no other option.

Re: 2016-17 NBA Regular Season Thread

Does the NBA pick and choose what teams to fine when their top players set out a National Game? I guess LeBron James is more important than the San Antonio Spurs(who got fined 250,000 dollars a few years ago).

When do NHL teams rest their top players during the season(never unless they clinched a playoff spot)?

That was Stern not Adam Silver. I imagine that the fine was rescinded too. That happens often but it's not discussed in the press.

Re: 2016-17 NBA Regular Season Thread

Lakers get blown out at home tonight vs the Clippers.

I hate seeing them be so terrible, but I also get that nothing good will come from winning at this point. They have to protect themselves from that fucking Steve Nash trade biting them in the ass and losing a really valuable top draft pick.

I did see they signed David Nwaba to a 2-year deal.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources...210056697.html

He's basically playing out the rest of the season with an option for next season.

Yeah that's crazy. I know the Suns are basically playing nobody but youngsters and can just feed him the ball, but they were against a legit championship contender in the Celtics. Impressive.

Re: 2016-17 NBA Regular Season Thread

I sat him this week in the fantasy playoffs because he was questionable to start the week. Oh well. I actually bought they might sit him out the rest of the season like they did with Bledsoe since they're blatantly chasing lottery balls.

Re: 2016-17 NBA Regular Season Thread

Didn't realize the Suns called so many timeouts and intentionally fouled to pad Booker's points. I know that's what they did with Wilt to get 100 back in the day, but that puts a little bit of a damper on it for me, especially since the team lost. Anyone see the game to see if it was that bad?

Re: 2016-17 NBA Regular Season Thread

I'm not sure this would have happened for a guard back in the 80s though, at least without some flagrant fouls being called. I guess the game wasn't as close as it seemed by the final score.

I Jeanie. She pulled a Michael Corleone-type move and now she's come out on top. She's a BOSS. Now she and Magic just have to start putting together a winning team. Man that Lottery looms large this June...
