DVDTalk All Star Fantasy Football League 2016

I thought I'd start a new thread for this. Our last commissioner has gone AWOL and I'm going to take over as league commissioner.

Right now we have ten owners from last year interested in playing. I have still not heard from one other owner if they are returning or not.

I am now starting a waiting list for new prospective owners. Please post in the thread if you are interested in playing this year.

The entry fee will be the same as last year ($22). Please send entry fees via Paypal to [email protected] Please use the friends and family option and if you send with a credit card please pay for the transfer fee yourself. Also, please leave your username and an email address for me to send you a league invite to in the note column so I know who is paying and don't put anything about fantasy football in the note. Paypal has very strict rules about gambling. Once I receive your entry fee, I'll send you the link to the league. Fees are due July 31st at 10PM Central time.

Our tentative draft date is August 28th at 5PM Eastern/4PM Central.

If we are able to fill a full 12 team league the prizes will be:

1st Place: $135
2nd Place: $80
3rd Place: $34

Top Scorer (Regular season only) $15

Returning Teams/Owners:
Brick by Brick (lwhy?) PAID
Frontal LeBeautomy (printerati) PAID
Craptastics (clappj) PAID
mas_Tequila (Mountain Biker) PAID
John's Team (BearFan) PAID
Gridiron Law (DVD Josh) PAID
WD Forte (Obey The D) PAID
Chaos is a Ladder (outcastja) PAID
Kevin's Quality Team (macnorton) PAID
Dumpster Fire (brkhrt7 new owner) PAID
Axeramm's A**Kickers (Axeramm new owner) PAID
Fat Cats (Osiris3657 new owner) PAID

Re: DVDTalk All Star Fantasy Football League 2016

We now have 6 interested owners brkhrt7 is the first on the waiting list (he would replace DVDMagic). We need at least 2 more people to have an 8 person team like "The League" and 6 more to have the usual 12 team league.

If anyone has any rule changes they would like to bring up, feel free to discuss it in this thread. I believe we only had 30 seconds to make a pick in the draft last year and I would like to increase that to 45 or 60 seconds. Let me know if you have any objections.

We now have nine owners. I would love to have three more. Also, we have three entry fee payment options. You can either paypal it to me, pay it through Yahoo and they'll pay out the winners after the Championship game, or clappj has expressed an interest in being Treasurer so we could send it to him. Let me know your thoughts on it.

You weren't on the list for last year. Would you like for me to add you to the wait list for this year?

I added you to the wait list. Still waiting to hear back from previous owners bahgee, macnorton and Daryl. I'll give them until 11 AM Eastern 10 AM Central time on Saturday July 23rd to response before I added everyone from the wait list to the league.

We still need two more owners. I'm very happy that we have ten owners so far.

Re: DVDTalk All Star Fantasy Football League 2016

I agree that last year's 30 second draft time was way too short, so I would be fine with 60. Conversely, I will be decreasing the draft time in the free league to 60 seconds because everyone agreed that 90 was too long.

Re: DVDTalk All Star Fantasy Football League 2016

I have sent entry fee payment details to the eight returning owners. I will wait until Saturday to send it to those on the waiting list. Let's try to get the entry fees in by 10PM Central time on July 31. Also, this is my first time as a league commissioner. So please bear with me and let me know if there is something I forgot to do or need to do. Thanks.

Apparently the link that yahoo gave me is faulty so please pm or add an email address to your entry fee payment note so I can send you a league invite.

Re: DVDTalk All Star Fantasy Football League 2016

I want to offer up for a vote a potential rule change to see what others think about it. That is, making members pay $1 for each drop/add so there's more a a need for team building over the course of the season, and members can't change their entire roster on a weekly basis without consequence. I know from experience in this league, it sucks to get knocked out of the playoffs late in the season by a member (already statistically eliminated from the playoffs) who's playing a bunch of flavor-of-the-week players they just picked up off the waiver wire. What do you guys think about that idea?

I'm against this. As a first time league commissioner, It's going to be hard for me to keep track and collect all this. We do this in a work league that I'm in and it takes the commissioner forever to get everyone to pay for their drop/add fees. That's in a league with people you see every day, not with strangers on the internet....

Re: DVDTalk All Star Fantasy Football League 2016

My work league collects all money up front, then transaction fees are taken out of your winnings. (Of course some people don't have winnings, which is another story.)

I think late-season moves are always going to happen because injuries always happen--I won my championship last year with Tim frickin' Hightower and a few other stray pickups. If you charge for pickups, you would keep people from making 10 adds and drops per week, but in scenarios like you describe, the eliminated team would probably not pick up anyone at all, and then the teams playing them will coast to victory. So it kind of goes both ways. The main reason for the change would be eliminating the transaction noise.

Re: DVDTalk All Star Fantasy Football League 2016

A couple updates:

If we are able to fill a full 12 team league the prizes will be:

1st Place: $135
2nd Place: $80
3rd Place: $34

Top Scorer (Regular season only) $15

The pot will be bigger this year than last year. I don't know if Magic wasn't paying his entry fee or what, but there will be an extra $24 for prizes. I have adjusted 1st through 3rd place accordingly.

Also, in case I don't receive entry fees from some owners. I will be taking additions to the waiting list in case of non payment.
