"We the North" even though both Portland and Minnesota are further north than Toronto.

It's not ridiculous in the sense that it's that hard to repeat in the NBA these days. The Heat went to 4 straight championships. It's not far fetched that the Warriors may repeat.

(I do think that the Spurs have been a dynasty)

They should include the 7th season, given how big of a jump Curry's numbers went

I can't wait for the conference finals to start. Thunder vs Warriors and Raptors vs Cav.
Should be good series.

Well the Thunder are certainly on a roll, never would have guessed that outcome.

Looks like Westbrook has finally grown up during the playoffs.OKC has defintely abondoned heroball and they are moving the ball around and getting the entire team involved on offense. They certainly look like they could win the title and that is something I would not have thought a few months ago.

Steven Adams called Golden State's guards "monkeys", quickly apologized, of course, he was interviewed by the homophobic bigot Chris Broussard. You got to love sports!

I was very surprised by the Thunder. Didn't think they could beat the Warriors in the Warriors home. wow. what a game.

All the fans of other teams still hoping for Durant to come save them have to be rooting hard against OKC, right?

Out of the country on business, surprised to see the score. Pretty unexpected to me, I really didn't expect OKC to get their shit together. Happy to see some surprises in the playoffs, but I still think they would get destroyed by Cleveland in the finals

I'd love for Durant to become a Celtic but I hate the Thunder anyway.

GM Lebron's insidious plan. Send Dion to OKC to help take out the top teams, then watch him implode in the finals.

Re: 2016 NBA Playoffs Thread

it's only been 1 game and this okc/warriors is probably going 7. okc got demolished by spurs in their game one and came roaring back. don't count out the defending champs yet just because they lost the first game.

Re: 2016 NBA Playoffs Thread

Oh I doubt anyone is counting Golden State out, just amazed that they lost game one on their home floor where they were all but invincible in the regular season (kinda like San Antonio). Well that plus some homeless man OKC drafted out of the remnants of the Harden trade is a key figure. I'm sure GS are still the favorites, though perhaps less so than a few days ago.

Re: 2016 NBA Playoffs Thread

Good lord have these East playoffs been snoozers. Just get it over with already Cavs. I can't tell if you are playing that well or that every team you've played is just in the playoffs because they play in the East. Rather then watch this Raptors team the second half, I'm off to go watch paint dry.

Well Lebron's represented the East five (soon to be six) straight times, and the East has been a dumpster fire with every other team capable of contending either getting old or hurt. I'm just saying it's been a bit easier to repeat in the East.

Speaking of repeats it still kinda amazes me, even with Olajuwon as great as he was at the time, that the Rockets repeated between the Jordan years. The first time they were the number two seed in the West, had a better record than the number one in the East, and the number one seed Seattle famously fell in the first round, fine, some fortunate circumstances but they were favored. But that second time, despite adding Drexler they were the sixth seed, and went through seeds 3 (Utah with Stockton and Malone), 2 (Phoenix with Barkley and KJ), and 1 (San Antonio with the Admiral), then swept the number one seed in the East (Shaq). They just took that perfect window between Jordan dynasties and denied Barkley, Stockton, Malone, and Ewing from ever winning a championship.

On a side note Olajuwon wrote an article (or at least his name is on it) about small ball on players tribune today, worth a read.

And yes, that's how boring this Eastern Conference finals game is. Where's the mercy rule?

Richard Jefferson just blew by someone.

Pistons were fairly competitive against the Cavs, even though they were swept.

And just like that, the Warriors make it look easy.

I'm a little worried about klay though. He and Westbrook were pretty even tonight. Westbrook plays with a chip so he'll come back with a solid game whereas Klay has a history of disappearing in these late series

The Raptors looks totally outclassed by the Cavs so far and I hate to say it but that idiot Stephen A. Smith might be right, this series will not go beyond 4 games unless the Raptors can pull off some miracle.
