Spoiler:

The uniforms introduced in 2010 were fine, if they were going to be tampered with, all they had to do was add a striped waistband to the shorts and be done with it.

I just played ESPN's lottery game, and the Celtics got the top pick!

I'm sure it's going to go poorly in real life.

This is sort of like the 2016 NFL draft where the top superstar talent is thin (after Simmons and Ingram) but there are a ton of good players from 15-45 or so.

Celtics are loaded with picks in that range. Not a fan so you'll have to tell me, what exactly are the Celtics needs again?

uh, good players?

Seriously, they need a star or two. They have lots of decent players and a coach who is awesome and gets the most out of them. But they lack high-end talent.

Pretty much what I was thinking. I mean, who couldn't use some size, but more than anything they need a centerpiece player because pretty much their whole roster is complementary guys. I love Isaiah, but everything can't revolve around him.

And I got the Sixers truly hitting the lottery and getting the 1st and 4th picks.

I grew up a Sixers fan but haven't really cared in the long time. With their tanking and being the first pro team to put advertising logos on the uniform, they don't deserve any good karma. And it's not like they've shown they can pick good players with the high draft picks they get.

Who are we kidding. The fix is in and the Lakers are winning this sucker!

Re: 2016 NBA Off Season Thread

Dikembe Mutombo leaked out via twitter that the Sixers had won the lottery. He later deleted the tweet.

It's probably BS but it does it give a little more intrigue toward the proceedings tonight.

Man, their future success kind of hangs in the balance tonight. I hope and pray for a Top 2 pick. It will suck so hard to miss out on a Top 3 pick and end up with nothing except pick #32 and the warm memories of the Lakers' Steve Nash years.

Yeah, Lakers losing the pick would be devastating. Crossing fingers here.

Yes!! Thank God the Lakers got #2. I'm cool with either Simmons or Ingram. But I think they could use a double double machine like Simmons. Ingram is kind of boney at only 195 lbs.

Luckily the 76ers are picking first, pretty much guaranteeing that the guy who goes number 2 will be better...

Were cameras on Simmons when he knew the Sixers would have the #1 pick? Can you pinpoint the second where his heart rips in half?

76ers don't need anymore fucking big men. Half their roster is power forwards and centers.

That and e fact that they kinda need someone that can shoot has given Ingram a window. A window to what, I dunno. Poor Hinkie, his plan finally lands him the number one (and they still have the Lakers pick next year) but he's gone.

Has the draft lottery ever gone exactly according to the odds like this before? I know it's kinda rare for the worst team to actually get the first pick, but all the picks stayed the same, right?

First time that's ever happened.
I'm delighted that Lakers have #2. Let the Sixers worry and fret about their pick and the Lakers get the other guy in a draft with two potential superstars and a bunch of role players. I think they'd probably take Simmons if they had their druthers, but Ingram is probably the better fit anyways. Huge for them, just huge.

I'm even more happy that Boston gets #3 in a two-player draft. #Schadenfreude

Shades of 1997 for Boston, I think. So close yet so far. Don't give up on Chauncey, I mean Dragon Blender so early this time!

Dragan Bender, what a great name.

It's amazing that if we pick Simmons, and Embiid actually plays this year, along with Saric coming over from Europe, we still don't have a PG or SG.

And in this scenario, all of their 5 best players (Okafur, Noel, Embiid, Saric, Simmons) would all be 6'10" or taller. Simmons is a good passer/ball handler, right? Let's make him point guard

Hinkie may be gone, but maybe his philosophy of zigging to the rest of the league's zagging still holds. Golden State Warriors are dominating with guard-led "small ball"? Let's do the opposite!

BTW, what's the current situation with Saric? I know he's still young (22) and keeps saying he wants to come to the NBA relatively soon. And for his development, he was probably better off with his European team instead of the sorry collection the Sixers were running out on the court while in tank mode. How does his deal with the NBA draft work? Does he have to play for the Sixers if he wants to go the NBA? Or is there a time window where the Sixers draft rights to him expire (and he either reenters the draft or can sign with whoever he wants as a free agent)?

Joe Johnson too--top 10 pick then traded away before he got good.
