2016 NFL Off-Season Thread

Thought it's time now for an official off-season thread.

First firing of the off-season : Mike Pettine out in Cleveland as Head coach. Ray Farmer out as GM.

Yup, Tennessee has the #1 pick.
Wonder if Cleveland takes another QB.

Even though they won Tomsula should be fired for electing to punt instead of kicking a field goal near the end of the 4th quarter.

It is when the eliminated teams have played their last game and the firings begin.

That was a quick one. Not like this disastrous season was his fault.
I thought it was a dumb, reactionary hire to begin with. Guess this firing confirms that.

And that. Jesus that was a terrible decision, even though they ended up winning anyways.

D'oh! Of course you're right!

I'm an idiot, I was even rooting for Tennessee to get the pick just so that the young man who comes out of college and earns the honor if the #1 overall pick won't have his career ruined because of the ongoing ineptitude of the franchise currently in Cleveland.

Third time in five years the #1 overall pick goes to an AFC South team. (An AFC South team picked #2 in those other two years).
Way to go AFC South!

Cleveland is leaving all football operation decisions in the hands of their general counsel, who has no football personal experience, and he will help pick the coach first, and the coach will have input into the GM hire

Packers would be well advised to do this at this point...

Re: 2016 NFL Off-Season Thread

Manziel failed to check-in this morning with the team, as required by the concussion protocol, and didn't answer his phone, according to team owner jimmy haslem. Adds some weight he actually might have been in vegas last night.

Either way, it appears the johnny football experiment is over in cleveland.

WTF kind of backwards ass shit is this? I read somewhere they were bringing in Urban Meyer, but I lost the article. Did anyone else hear that?

I'll be sad if Coughlin is gone, he's been a great coach, got us 2 Super Bowl wins, most exciting ones in my memory being a Giants fan. Just have a hard seeing who his replacement could be.

I give the Dolphins street-cred for beating the Patriots yesterday. However, dropping from 6th place to 8th (they would have been in front of Baltimore and San Fran due to strength of schedule) to make it happen may be quite costly.

So Dolphin fans, I hope your win yesterday will be worth it when you're waiting another 20 minutes and watching talent you could have had get selected in front of you on draft day. Street-cred is akin to winning the battle but losing the war ...

Re: 2016 NFL Off-Season Thread

^ It's even worse for the Bills - winning their last 2 meaningless games dropped them at least 7 spots in the draft order. Sucks for any team to be 3rd in their division and only at .500 and still have 18 teams drafting ahead of them.

I just enjoy seeing it happen to the Bills.

Fair point. However, I can't hate on the Bills even though they are in my division. Their fans are arguably the best in the NFL and certainly fate owes them one. Just one.

Yeah, no way he could've won with that franchise, but I didn't follow the team so I don't know if the coaching staff was a dumpster fire. Funny how the season opener was their peak.

Titans fire GM Ruston Webster.

Will still be considering interim coach Mike Malarkey for their Head Coach position
