Josh Smith traded back to the Rockets.

I sure hope Draymond Green doesn't have one of those contracts that is impacted by how many times he is a All-Star Starter.

Anthony Davis has one of those:

Anthony Davis' non-selection as All-Star could cost him $23 million

All Davis has to do is have his team list him as a center, and I'm pretty sure he'll lock up an All NBA spot at the end of the year (he can also do it as a forward, but the position is pretty stacked).

He got less votes than Enes Kanter though? That's messed up. Shouldn't have signed that extension with the Pelicans, Davis, or maybe you should fire your marketing team.

I'm not a Kanter fan after his college shenanigans, but this article makes a case for him as one of the most efficient offensive players in the league, countering his horrible defense.

Holy crap! I would expect that after a loss, not a win. This basically reduces their chance to winning a championship this year to zero.

On the other hand, Steve Kerr is coming back to coach against the Pacers.

Tyronn Lue is the new head coach. It sounds like he signed a multi year contract and just isn't an interim guy.

Damn, I was kinda hoping they'd hire Mark Jackson away from his announcers job so we wouldn't have to listen to him on the broadcasts.

don't really see how it does that. Lue has been a HC candidate for a while, and you have to think that this was done because he interacts better with Lebron.

And, while Lebron may not be a good GM, everyone talks about how his basketball IQ is off the charts. He's not dumb. So if Lue is good at x's and o's, and works well with LBJ, I don't think this screws their championship hopes. Obviously, in their eyes, it improves them.

Details

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources...210152429.html

The Cleveland Cavaliers have fired coach David Blatt, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Ty Lue, Blatt's top assistant, has agreed to a three-year deal to become the team's new head coach, sources told Yahoo. LeBron James and his agent, Rich Paul, had been strong advocates of Lue becoming head coach since last season, sources said.

Crazy, but yeah Lue has been a hot commodity for a few years now so it's not too crazy. A little surprising it's happening at this point in the year though. Especially since the Cavs still have the East pretty easily.

And how about the transition from one coach to the other? That isn't going to be easy.

Re: The 2015 - 2016 NBA regular season thread

LeBron James was not consulted before the Cavaliers made the move to dismiss Blatt and was informed of the decision Friday, sources told Windhorst. The decision to fire Blatt was "entirely" up to general manager David Griffin, a league source told ESPN.com
For some reason I don't believe this at all

Too bad, otherwise we'd have had the top teams in each conference coached by ex-Lakers.

Does Lue coach the all star team now? It's team record not coach's record, right? Could we really have two coaches in the all-star game that just started coaching this week?

sure, but he's already an assistant with the team. That will make the transition easier. And they have 3-4 months to get things together.

I'm not saying they will win, or even that their chances improved. Just saying this move doesn't mean they won't win. Obviously, they made it for the exact opposite reason.

Re: The 2015 - 2016 NBA regular season thread

Wow, Brett Brown has lasted longer than Blatt. Although, technically, he's doing his job. Even though journalists are saying LeBron had nothing to do with this decision, I imagine some members of the front office looked at some of the times he overruled Blatt's decision making.

Also, Steve Kerr is coming back, so unless his injuries flair up again, Popovich will be going to Toronto. Much to his chagrin, I'm sure.

I know there's little coaching involved in the all star game besides making sure everyone gets minutes, but I'd kinda like to see Walton try to coach Kobe.

You have a point. In the end, can the Cavaliers even beat the Thunder or even the Clippers in a seven game series? Without home court advantage, they sure cannot beat the Spurs or Warriors.

Re: The 2015 - 2016 NBA regular season thread

The PR to assure everyone that "Lebron doesn't run this organization" is funny to me. I can't imagine any move isn't done with the thought of making sure Lebron doesn't go anywhere again and to appease him, especially given his 1 year opt outs.
