Eh, Randle missed his attempt at a driving layup at the end anyway and looked out of control, probably not necessarily a bad thing for that time out.

Tough game to watch live, especially blowing a 16 point lead. Kobe's going to be Kobe, feels like the way he's been the last couple of years where he looks good in stretches but absolutely terrible at the end. He missed his last 8 shots, so before that he was shooting respectably. Him jacking up 3's after making a couple is just ugly, no reason for him to take 13 3's.

Laker haters are going to enjoy blaming Kobe's shooting, but he wasn't in the game when the Wolves whittled the lead in the 4th quarter down to 2 points and it was Kevin Martin and Rubio that really torched them. Not a fan of Byron leaving all reserves in until under 8 minutes in the 4th either.

D'Angelo Russell looks bad as he did in the summer and preseason. Random thought, but i'm surprised Wiggins isn't as big of a part of the Wolves offense as I thought he would be.

It's one game. I'm sure Wiggins will be a focal point, but Martin and Rubio lead the drive to come back. I'm sure, especially with Rubio, it won't happen too often.

One of the best Tweets I read last night said that Deandre Jordan's free throw % is still higher than his IQ

Kobe is once again jacking up too many 3s. 7 attempts tonight. He's really lost that explosiveness he had driving to the hoop.

Jesus Lakers defense is non-existent tonight. There's still 5 minutes left and they've allowed 119 points.

Warriors destroy the Rockets in Houston. No surpise there. Rockets talked a lot of shit and crushed by the champs. Next.

The best thing that can happen to the Lakers is that Kobe retires at the end of the season. He doesn't seem to grasp that this is a team sport and he isn't as good as he used to be. Is very similar to what happened to Allen Iverson. For some reason, teams were able to get rid of Iverson, while the Lakers seem to be stuck with Kobe, at least until the end of this season.

I thought Byron Scott knew how to coach defense. You aren't going to win many games, let alone make the playoffs allowing 132 points.

Disappointing start to the season.

Biggest mistake was Mitch and Jim Buss signing Kobe to that ridiculous 2-year extension, which thankfully is expiring after this season.

It's only 2 games, but I'm disappointed with the poor performance so far. Kobe is a shell of his old self.

Re: The 2015 - 2016 NBA regular season thread

Kobe is what, in his 20th year? Of course he's going to be a shell of himself. He's full of himself and the people that think he's going to do well are insane. Lakers kept him simply out of being loyal to him. They are the reverse Celtics (would have liked to see Pierce retire as a Celtic). If he stopped taking 3's, his FG% would be great. Not like they got much of a team anyways, though. Be interesting to see where they end up finishing. I got them, 76ers, and Nets at the bottom. Maybe the Pelicans decide to pull a Knicks of last year if they can't get health. You can't start off bad in the West and make the playoffs.

If anyone does fantasy, the PG playing the Lakers will be a must start. Both Rubio and Rondo went off, though they usually do well against the Lakers. Deron Williams gets the next shot on Sunday.

Just like last season, it's no surprise the Lakers aren't very good to me and Kobe continues to think he's years younger. Still, as much as people still bitch about Kobe's contract the last 2 years I still don't believe that extra cap space would have resulted in Lebron, Melo, Aldridge, or whomever so at the very least he still puts butts in the seats.

New year, same complaints. Don't know why either fans or haters expected any different

Pretty much. LaMarcus even said Kobe was the better part of the presentation. You really don't want Melo anyways. And James was either going to stay in Miami or go home. Marc Gasol didn't even talk to anyone. Would have been good for the Lakers to get Monroe, though. Next few years will be interesting with all the old restricted free agents finally hitting the market and cap going up.

The bad part isn't the Lakers looking inept in their first two games, it's the fact that these two games were against the only two teams in the Western Conference I could reasonably convince myself were actually worse than the Lakers' team at the start of this season. It's going to be a long year...

Really? Kings had a better last year than the Lakers by 8 games. The Kings actually started off extremely well until Cousins got hurt. How in the hell did you convince yourself the Lakers would be better than the Kings? I can see maybe Portland (losing 4 starters) and maybe Mavs (at the time, expecting Matthews and Parsons being out for a while) but the Kings actually have a decent team.

I guess I forgot the Kings massive history of playoff success in recent years and how well their new coach and All-Star player were getting along recently.
Vegas has the Over/Under Win Totals for the Lakers at 29.5 and the Kings at 30.5. Yeah, I must be out of my mind to suggest it was even possible that the Lakers might be better than them this season.

Because Vegas is the law of what comes as success

I don't see what recent years of success in the playoffs has any barring of rather the Kings will have a better record than the Lakers. Past two years, Kings finished on top of the Lakers. Hell before the Clippers tipped off, one of the announcers made mention that the Kings have a slight possibility of sneaking into the 8th spot. A combo of Cousins/Gay is still better than any two players on the Lakers. A month before the season tipped off, actually, both Cousins and Karl have gotten along well together. Both on the same page and looking to win.

Going off the ESPN preseason rankings, they actually rank Portland (like I called since they lost everyone) being worse than the Lakers and, as mentioned, the Kings with a thought of slipping into the playoffs. http://espn.go.com/nba/powerrankings/_/year/2016/week/0
