The bulk of my Angels coverage comes from nickdawgy, so I'm always surprised to check the standings and see they're in playoff position.

Per Elias, the Royals had won 111 consecutive games when leading after 7 innings entering Wednesday. This was the 3rd longest streak in history.

Then they lost both last night and tonight when leading after 7.

There were a couple of terrible plays and miscues in that inning that exacerbated what should have been only 3 to 4 runs. Grichuk made a misplay in center, Carpenter threw an out into the dugout and Heyward allowed a pop fly to fall just a few feet from him. If those outs are made then Lynn would have continued on. Now, Lynn does seem to lose his cool quite easily when things are not going right.

Sounds like they needed more luck on their side.

Schwarber is sick (glad I picked him up on my fantasy keeper team)... congrats to Cubbies fans for having a truly stacked team. I think you guys get one more stud (Price) in the off season and you're definitely the team to beat next year.

John Farrell announced that he has Stage 1 Lymphoma and he's stepping down from the team. I don't have any love for him professionally but wish him all the best in his recovery.

I just love starting a series off with a win. It wasn't pretty by any means but I'll take it for a start.

Yeah, best wishes to him.

When I saw you'd bumped the thread, I remembered that I had forgotten to check the score so I did that before reading this. Fortunately the final was the same as I'd last seen. I agree that some of the wins in this recent run have been ugly or just plain boring, but a good team wins those, right? And Castro had three hits--I'd love to see him get back on track.

Thanks! I'd love to see another frontline starter come in, but I've been a Cubs fan for too long to count on something like that.

Castro getting back on track would be huge for the Cubs .... good win today, the bullpen came through

I only watched the 9th inning, but congrats to the Yankees winning. I hope this provides a huge morale boost for them. I still think the Blue Jays are going to win the series.

Streak is over but hopefully it will lead the Blue Jays to start another win streak. Kudos to the Yankees as they made it hard for Price tonight.

I thought "wow, could this be a turning point? The first team to really put the hurt on a great KC pen?"

Then I realized the Royals pitchers just had an off game. Kind of like the Angels. Except not every other game, and multiple times a month and three months out of the year.

No, they'd make the playoffs if they started today. But would they even get past the WC game? They'd play the Yanks at this point.

It's like a husband that beats his wife all year and towards the end, starts loving on her again. Then tells her they're going on a date. Then he never shows up.

She wants to divorce him, but he was really good for a month out of the year, the best husband ever! Then he comes back and does it again.

That's the Angels and Mike Scioscia the past three or four years.

That was a complicated metaphor.

With your bats and Richards on the mound, you might as well take a shot in your one-game playoff.

A Giants win over Nats with Scherzer getting lit up in the 2nd is a good nite.

Harper is just sick. Terrible pitch from Matt Cain - one or two more short outings where he hits a wall in the 5th (14.52 ERA) and I see him sent to the pen.

Matt Kemp with the first cycle in Padres history http://m.mlb.com/news/article/143243...bpr=5768707450
Colorado should've gone ahead and been no hit as well

More like the husband does everything for his wife and would do anything for her but on Sundays he wants to watch football and she bitches and complains.

You just never know who will show up. I mean every team has a slump. But this team does it spectacularly.

Regardless, I still watch and attend games.

Oh and the Giants have the coolest promos. By far.

I think the curse is officially over... 22-6 in the 9th. M's follow up the highlight of their year (Kuma's no-no) by allowing 37 runs in the last 2 games. Welcome to our season
