MLB 2015 Week 14 July 6-12

We can't do our usual fan-vote poll since full rosters will be announced later today.

Vogt from Oakland should be the starter over Salvador Perez. Brian McCann is having a better season too.

I vote Alex Gordon. He's a fine solid player, but I'm sure there's others having a better season. Plus there's still too many Royals in there.

Perez when you could have had Vogt at catcher

I guess I should have pulled the trigger on MLB.tv during one of the $50 deals. Post-Father's Day it "dropped" to $80, and I'm too stubborn to pay more than the deals I passed up.

Anyone else think that MLB stepped in behind the scenes and tinkered with the votes to prevent 7 or 8 Royals from starting? The Royals had been leading for almost all of the season in All-star voting.

^^ I think they did. I thought I read that 60M votes were discounted because multiple accounts were used?? Not sure how that was vetted, but I'm sure MLB was behind it.

A-Rod will get his 3,000 hit ball from the guy that caught it.

Anthony Rizzo sat out Sunday partly because he's been hit by pitches 17 times this year. He's still got a ways to go before he catches Ron Hunt (50 times in 1971). Other top guys in the modern era were Don Baylor (35 times in 1986) and Craig Biggio (34 times in 1997).

I could totally see them doing that using the justification that they were probably from Kansas City, thereby "restoring integrity" to the process.

He crowds the plate a lot. Those Pirates-Cubs games must be HBP fests since the Pirates and Cubs are #1 and #2 in the NL in HBP.

I get the feeling something like that happened.

Now that Cabrera is out at first, does that mean Hosmer's back in?

If I recall, they basically eliminated the votes that were from the same IP addresses where it was obvious people created numerous email accounts just to vote repeatedly. Would be easy to track and see a pattern.

Robinson Cano says he contracted a stomach ailment last year that still costs him strength and energy.

Jon Lester hits a liner off Lackey's body for an infield single, breaking a career 0-for-66 streak!

to MLB Players for picking AJ Pollock for the ASG. Dude is legit and glad to see the players are actually better at picking players than the fans are.

Nice to see Wade Davis make the AS Team even if he's adding to the number of Royals. Ever since he became a reliever, he's been insanely good.

I thought the player in 2nd place filled in as the starter for an injured player.

If the all-star game is truly meaningful, shouldn't Mike Trout play the entire game? Is there any scenario where you would ever remove a healthy Trout from a game that isn't a complete blowout or exhibition?

I thought it was the manager's choice, and an opportunity to add a more deserving player.

It's very hard to avoid getting a hit over that span. Dare I say harder than it is to hit .300. You almost have to avoid ever swinging and never practice at all.

Right, the odds of taking all those swings and never making enough contact to find a hole must be astronomical.

I was watching Monday's game, and the Cards were doing the little things to win, and the Cubs were doing the little things to lose. So frustrating. They could really use another arm and another bat.

Thing is, they're barely hitting, but they're winning because of pitching, plus some clutch hitting and luck yesterday.
