Hopefully Bob Melvin isnt fired. they took away his team which made it to the playoffs three years in a row and gave him a bunch of new guys. The main problem has been the bullpen being terrible; which was mostly the same guys as last year, who did great.

NO manager does less with his roster than Robin Ventura.

The SP stills sucks and the Bullpen is inconsistent but the Blue Jays were able to stop a 5 game losing streak thanks to the offence.

Re: MLB 2015 Week 7, May 17-23

Cubs finally dump their third catcher, sending Welington Castillo to the Mariners for AAA RHP Yoervis Medina.

Makes sense for the Mariners to get someone who can spell or even replace Zunino, who's been terrible at the plate. Castillo can hit, throw, and block. The Cubs just soured on him because of his framing. The Cubs get roster flexibility plus an extra arm that may become useful as they don't have a lot of MLB-ready pitching at AAA and their bullpen is sputtering.

POTUS starts a personal twitter account and follows the White Sox, Bulls, Bears, and Blackhawks, but not the Cubs. Thanks, Obama!

He has never made it a secret of his disinterest on the Cubs. Plus I think Rickets is not an Obama supporter politically.

Good for him. I'd have less respect for him if he was a Cubs and ChiSox fan. I don't know much about Chicago fandom but it's my impression that you pick one and loathe the other.

At least he's not like idiot Christie and roots for the Cowboys.

Yes, he's a declared White Sox fan so it makes sense. Also true about the Ricketts family.

I am no fan of Obama, but if he is not a Cub fan, why pretend you are one? I am perfectly fine with him following the Sox only.

Practically speaking, you don't *need* to be a fan to follow a team, but I agree that this account will be largely symbolic so it makes sense to stick to his declared teams.

Cards' reliever Randy Choate just had his first at-bat in over a decade - only a handful in his career - and he drew a walk.

This is Randy Choate's first time ever at first base other than covering it on a grounder. #Cardinals #stlcards

Re: MLB 2015 Week 7, May 17-23

I like the new pace of play rules, but Marvin Hudson tossing Bryce Harper last night was ridiculous.

Harper had body language that suggested he disagreed with the call, and stayed in the box ready for the next pitch. The ump took off his mask to jaw at the Nationals' dugout, then Harper stepped out of the box. Hudson tells Harper to get back in the box, and tossed him because he didn't like the way Harper followed those instructions.

“He didn’t like the pitch and I let him have his say going and coming,” Hudson said. “The dugout didn’t like it, and one thing led to another and I had to run him. I had to eject him.”
He seriously used the "one thing led to another" defense.

"Adolf Hitler was rejected as a young man on his application to art school... One thing led to another... And the United States dropped two atomic bombs on the sovereign nation of Japan."

Harper needs to shut the hell up and not argue strikes. Especially, the first strike of the at bat. What an idiot. We're talking about a guy that got tossed from a pre-season game. lol!

I don't think he argued strikes. He had some body language that suggested he disagreed with the call, but if what he did counted as "arguing," then dozens of players should get ejected from every game.

Yeah, after looking at it again and reading up, I think it was a mistake to toss him. However, his reputation preceded him and he is the one to blame for that reputation. He always has that shit eating look on his face and his demeanor rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

The reputation is a valid point, though. See, it's not serving him well on DVDTalk either!

I saw what happened last night during the Cardinals game. They actually talked about him getting tossed from a spring training game and how dumb it is to put yourself in that position in the first place. Harper needs to change his attitude and then he can be a liked superstar.

It's a good time to be a terrible closer: Kevin Gregg signs a minor-league deal with the Mariners after Jose Veras did the same with the Astros.

Neither Arizona or Miami are carrying the Diamondbacks/Marlins game today(5-21) but it is on MLB.TV(an MLB.TV exculsive).

Point was most seem to agree he shouldn't have been ejected so I think it's funny to sit back and call him an idiot in this case.

Well, he does at times act like an idiot and has a huge chip on his shoulder. He should be thankful for being so young and already being in his fourth year in the majors.
