2015 NBA Off-Season Thread.

I thought about subtitling this thread Welcome Laker Fans! but thought better of it. At least the Lottery is right around the corner. Now watch Oklahoma City nab the top pick....

Re: 2015 NBA Off-Season Thread.

Lakers fans will be sweating out the lottery... Still a 17.8 percent chance two teams leapfrog them and they have to give up their pick, which would really make this a lost season. They still have Houston's pick though.

OKC with the .5% chance. What's the lowest historical odds of a number one pick winner? Besides the insane odds of Cleveland getting three number ones in four years or whatever that was.

Glad the Wolves are guaranteed one of the 4 high rated guys, but they really need to get one of the big fellas, so I hope they can at least stay top 2.

And Cleveland owns that one too. Uh Oh. (never mind, that is protected top 18 it looks like)

The Magic won the Weber draft with a 1.52% chance, Cleveland last year and the Bulls with Rose both won with 1.7% chances (one of Clevelands other ones was 2.8% via the Clippers).

That would be so awesome. Screw these teams tanking to improve their chances.

But really I'm rooting for Cleveland getting it so they can replace Love with a #1 pick, and have cap space left to pick up an awesome FA or two.

Re: 2015 NBA Off-Season Thread.

Glad the trainwreck Lakers season is over with. I would be happy with either of Okafor, Towns, or Winslow. I'd probably lean towards Towns since he's ready to go defensively. I don't know enough about D'Angelo Russell, but Jordan Clarkson played well down the stretch, so we may not need a PG. And I hope they don't bring in Rondo.

My biggest hope is someone will take Nick Young off our hands. The guy is a total clown who doesn't belong on the roster. Still not sure why Kupchak gave him a 4 year extension last year.

With the Lakers luck lately, I'm cautious about the draft and wouldn't be surprised if they somehow drop out of the top 5.

I would like to see some dramatic changes to the lottery. For example, I would change it so only the bottom 6 teams got a shot at the #1 pick (still weighted); bottom 10 a chance for the #2, and then everyone for #3. This way, those teams that barely lost out on the playoffs wouldn't get the #1 pick like they always seem to do.

This draft is a win win. If somehow the Lakers and Knicks finish in the top 2-3 the internet will explode with rage and tin foil hat conspiracy theories. If Knicks drop to 4-5 or Lakers out of the top 5 then it will gurantee likely future all stars in Okafor and Town don't get stuck in trainwreck franchises.

There are far bigger trainwreck franchises in the lottery then the Knicks or Lakers.

I hate the Lakers and nobody gets greater pleasure from watching them flail than I, but at worst they have had a couple-three trainwreck years, they don't come close to trainwreck franchise level.

The Knicks, OTOH...

What the heck? The Lakers...a trainwreck franchise? First I've heard of it. There have been 68 NBA champions, and this trainwreck franchise has won 16 of them.

If I'm a top draft pick, I think the Lakers are a top destination. A great market, a great history, a chance to play right away and it's not like they have a bunch of albatross contracts. Heck, the Knicks should also finally be free of most of their bad contracts shortly.

For the Lakers, even though they play in the same building as a vastly superior team, they still killed them in the tv ratings.

The Lakers not only were maybe the Gold Standard franchise for the NBA but maybe in the the top 2-3 of all sport worldwide were being the operative word. All 16 of those titles were won before Jerry Buss died and his 2 kids tweedle dee and tweedle dum became the new owners.

The Knicks still sell out and get good local ratings too. It's gonna take more than a few years of crappiness until they start losing fans.

How are you getting internet in prison? Shouldn't you be focused on serving your time rather than making idiotic comments about "trainwreck" franchises?

Despite the incompetence of the owners, there are still tons of loyal Knicks fans in this area. They are dying to go nuts over a even a pretty decent product.

I'd be worried about the trainwreck in prison.

Not to mention great weather and tons of hot chicks, and movie stars attend every game.

they waited too long.

who do they hire? George Karl would have been a great choice, but he's gone.

They have 1 year to get this right.

Re: 2015 NBA Off-Season Thread.

I wonder. I can't think of any flashy NBA retreads who are available or recently fired. Maybe JVG? They don't really have the time to allow a first time coach to find his way. Or do they go with a high profile college coach? Would one jump at the chance to coach that roater? I'm a little bit worried since my favorite high profile college coach, Bill Self has Oklahoma roots.
