So they basically hit a big reset button?

The Authority back in power, firing "Team Cena." They should turn Show back to babyface so they can just replay the same events.

Cena vs. Brock vs. Rollins.

Usos vs. Mizdow.

Ziggler being buried/losing the Intercontinental title. Barrett getting his title back.

And wow Cesaro now with Rose and Tyson Kidd? Are they trying to get him to quit?

Hell, what about where WWE is airing now? SyFy? Pro wrestling makes a lot more sense on a reality-tv channel than on a SF/horror/fantasy one.

The Royal Rumble through Wrestlemania stretch is always my favorite time of year. Even when the product isn't good, I always find something to enjoy. But this sounds pretty dire.

Seeing how Cena was forced to reinstate the Authority made me wonder why a heel never tried that strategy against him in an "I Quit" match.

I guess Rollins thrown into the title match is a bit better than yet another Lesnar/Cena rematch.

I've only been watching bits and pieces for the last few weeks. Is the Roman Reigns Superman push still proceeding? And if so, are the crowds buying it?

I didn't get the impression that Cesaro and Kidd were with Rose but now that I think about it that may be the case and that becomes a huge "ugh" from me.

This doesn't differentiate between singles, tag, and team matches (and it counts towards the record even if another person on the team was involved in the decision). And Royal Rumbles, battle royals, elimination chambers, classic Survivor Series matches, and Money in the Banks are all included (which explains why, if you added it up, there will be more losses than wins).

Re: The January 2015 Pro Wrestling Thread - WWE's Royal Rumble; Return of TNA

For the ultimate in nerdy stats, check out http://www.profightdb.com/
They have detailed records across promotions, including house show results. They are missing a lot of house shows from the pre-internet age, but it's still really interesting.

Interesting side note... apparently Roman Reigns pinned Rusev at a house show on Sunday. I'm sure this won't be acknowledged as far as Rusev's undefeated streak is concerned, but I'm still surprised they'd do this given how info leaks these days.

I think there are some pretty key differences. For one, WWF at that point was already well established on USA for years and were able to advertise that they were moving before it happened and when it did happen it was a fairly seamless transition. They also probably were the most popular wrestling organization during a period when professional wrestling in general was still pretty popular overall. Also when WWF went to TNN it was right as TNN was becoming "The New TNN" which was essentially what they were re-branding themselves before eventually changing into what is now Spike TV.

TNA is a company that is established somewhat but still overall appeal to a more niche audience. They're also barely the number two organization during probably one of the lowest periods of professional wrestling popularity. I definitely don't see the move to Destination America as anything that's going to grow their business. It seems like they're just floating and trying to keep themselves on air and went with whoever would take them. To me the move just feels like another nail in their coffin. They had a decent thing going on Spike which is a part of a lot of basic cable lineups and the fact that they screwed that up in my opinion is going to end up most likely costing them.

OMG Lucha Underground was amazing tonight. If you are not watching, you're missing out. The wrestling displayed here shows just how safe and boring WWE is playing it now a days.

My dvr tried to save me from myself by screwing up the TNA Impact premiere. Still caught the opening crapfest where angle is in the ring directing traffic while the whole roster brawls with each other.

Was the lighting on Impact that bad for everyone else or was the Manhattan Center that empty that they turned the lights all the way down and boosted the audience mics. also like that they tried to mute the 'you suck dick' & 'holy shit' chants

The El Ray Network, which is channel 341 on DirecTV. I watched an episode around New Years Eve, and enjoyed the hell out of it.

Re: The January 2015 Pro Wrestling Thread - WWE's Royal Rumble; Return of TNA

I watched the TNA show. As someone who hasn't seen a full TNA show in about a year, and has only checked it out on occasion before that, it was an improvement over what I'd seen before. I actually liked the look of it... for once it didn't feel like WWE-lite.

Still, I don't know if I'm going to be a frequent viewer. They are doing things I like with the presentation, but I just can never seem to get into their characters. Plus it hurts its chances a bit that Destination America is a non-HD channel for me.

I thought the lighting was terrible even in the filmed introduction; maybe it was an intentional affect, but you could barely see the wrestler's faces.

I also thought it was odd that Angle was talking to specific wrestlers (you're going to have a match tonight, and you are) and the camera was going all over the place, and wrestlers were still brawling. Otherwise, I only caught the very end and the very beginning (did it show back to back? I still don't know what my DVR did).

They were on a brief tape delay (prob so they could mute the cuss words by the fans) The show ended around 11:04 due to the main event going long.

Also saw that only about 400-500 people showed up to last nights tapings at the Manhattan Center. ROH can and has drawn capacity crowds of 1200 people to that room

It was pretty revealing when they were fighting in the upper stands and there were just rows of empty chairs.

Re: The January 2015 Pro Wrestling Thread - WWE's Royal Rumble; Return of TNA

I think a lot of wrestling fans just view TNA as a joke to be honest. There's some decent talent on the roster but the way the organization is booked is pretty poor and the shows they put on just aren't great. They very much come off like a second rate organization. They aren't on the same level as WWE even though they try and act like they're on the same level and they don't have the quality of some of the smaller indie organizations like Ring of Honor or whoever. They had a chance at really making something of themselves years ago but they blew it and have never seemed to be able to dig themselves out of the hole they're in.

I loved the opening segment's chant of "Shut! The! *MUTED* Up! clap clap clapclapclap!"

Jerry The King Lawler has been removed from Raw's commentary team and moved to Smackdown.

The new commentary teams will be

Raw: Michael Cole, JBL & Booker T
Smackdown: Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler & Byron Saxton

PPVs will still have the team of Cole, Lawler & JBL

I like Booker T the personality, but I can't listen to his voice for more than 5 minutes without muting the TV.

I'm shocked they've never had like Borash or someone make an announcement "please do not chant profanity, as we are on Live TV"

Booker and JBL on the same team?

JBL is horrible and Booker may be even worse. Plus I still don't understand the SD line up. Is Cole suppose to be on color instead of play by play on that team?

Lawler is totally unprepared when it comes too broadcasting. He probably doesn't use notes. He listens to the producer say too him- say puppies !!!! or say-I can't wait!!!

They need Cole on Smackdown so he can mention the WWE Network ,by name, ever 5 minutes.
