Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2014

A. Gates hurt his hamstring and may not be able to play. This means Green might be the starting TE for SD.

Who should I start for defense/special teams?
Panthers vs. TB
or
Eagles vs. JAC

Edit-- I Also have Reuben Randle, for what that's worth.
I'd go Jackson, but I'm following Hopkins closely because I have him also.

Brilliant planning!

You just can't predict this game. I took Green in the late rounds then realized he had the same bye week as my starter. Rather than dump him immediately, I figured I had some time to decide, and now he may turn out to be valuable, at least for a while.

Carolina, but I have them so I might be biased.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2014

So E. Sanders or Edelman? Before you answer, consider this. I already have J. Thomas and M. Ball. So, if I picked Sanders, I'd essentially be playing 3 guys from the same team.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2014

Ugh, do I really need to pick up Benny Cunningham to back up Zac Stacy?

Also, Michael Floyd or Ryan Mathews in a PPR league for my flex spot? (could bench Garcon as well)

Yeah this Stacy shit sucks.

I have Matthews and Garçon starting, so go with Floyd.

Per Jay Glazer:
Plan right now is to start Derek Anderson, not Cam Newton. Fear is shot on ribs puts Cam out 3-4 wks. Still up to Cam to change their minds and show he can protect himself
God damn it. I picked CAR in a 5 team parlay assuming Cam would be fine.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2014

Even if Cam was playing, I'd be iffy on him being effective. From a selfish fantasy perspective, I have no problems with Cam sitting a game or two out to get 100%. I have Nick Foles to replace him and Alex Smith as a backup - so I'm not hurt as bad as I could've been.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2014

Just benched Cam for Dalton and RGIII. Didn't protect myself well.

Also, my opponent added Tony Gonzalez off the waiver wire this week. He isn't starting him, but still... Maybe he wanted a TE and saw Gonzalez high on the rankings list or something.

Foles already has 2 lost fumbles. I'm guessing he's gonna have a bad season. Ugh.

Watch out now... Foles is coming back... he's dug himself out of negative territory and is now at an even 0.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2014

Stacy definitely looks worthless, but cunningham doesn't exactly look worth a grab either. I guess I'll start using Ingram.

Glad nobody didn't anything silly like dropping Patterson. :P

Just when I thought the first drop of the season was an easy one (Bernard Pierce, who netted me one of those rare negative point campaigns), there's a reason to keep him. Ugh.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2014

Do you think Forsett is worth a pick-up now? While BAL is most certainly going to be a RBBC, Forsett looks like he could be pretty productive in that role. I've always thought he was talented, but he never seemed to have an extended opportunity. I have Danny Woodhead and I'm not terribly pleased about it (seems to have a limited upside).

Yep, I was going to drop him for Terrance West, but now it looks like I have to figure out someone else to drop.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2014

I went 3-1 this week. The two in-person leagues I care most about I was playing against Julius Thomas, and every time I looked up he was scoring. In one league, I had the lead but Julius outscored DeMaryius by 29 and I lost by 25. In the other, Julius scored 28.4 to put me down by 26, but when I checked the score early into MNF, Megatron had already put me ahead, and he ended up scoring 28.4 to Victor Cruz's 2.4 to give me an eight-point win. Also in that game, I benched Cam a half-hour before gametime when the news broke, and RGIII got me 13.5--not great, but enough to escape a loss if I'd left Cam in. In the other league where I benched Cam, Dalton also helped me avoid a loss. My last win felt a little cheap because my opponent started Cam and Prater, but her backup QB and another kicker wouldn't have been enough. Could have been worse, as she also started Andre Ellington, and at least he ended up playing!

Today I need to scour the waiver wire. I'm not panicking over some of my weaker performances, but I have real concerns about Brady and Ben Tate.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2014

Fuck having the first pick on the waiver wire so early in the season.

Any updates on Ben Tate or Jordan Reed? Out long or short term?

I am going to pick up the former's replacement by dropping Danny Amendola.

First week can be great at times--that's when I've picked up Anquan Boldin and Julius Thomas. I agree, though, that there's no big breakout this year unless you believe in Alan Hurns. I myself bypassed him to put in a claim for Markus Wheaton. The Ray Rice news puts Justin Forsett into play, but I'm not that excited about him and Bernard Pierce is mostly owned anyway. Forsett could be better than Pierce, but I'm still not that excited. The one league where there are good players available is so shallow with such small rosters that there's no one obvious to drop. I'm not quite ready to give up on Bishop Sankey, but I could if I had to. Fortunately I don't have to start seriously worrying about byes till week 6.

Also put in a bid for James Starks.

Re: Fantasy Football Talk 2014

Floyd played well enough for me last night. Trying to decide if I want to pick up Cunningham or Ivory as a Stacy backup plan, but it seems like I'd be better rolling the dice with Wheaton or Hopkins and taking my chances with a shallow RB bench.
