Oh god it's started already.

The Queen's Celtic are away at KR Reykjavik in a Big Cup match.

Re: One and Only 2014-2015 Football (soccer) thread: All Leagues Edition

Guess I should put this here and not in the old thread:

Rumors have it that James Rodriguez to RM deal is done. 70 mil + Cassemiro to Monaco.

La Liga could be very interesting next season and back to RM and Barca 2 horse race again.

Of course what will this mean for the midfield now? I guess play James in behind Benzema with Bale and Ronaldo out on the wings? Kroos has to fit in there somewhere as well.

Naturally they should still have Alonso and Modric in the middle as they made a fantastic pair IMHO and really pushed RM to the CL Final. I guess DiMaria will definitely be gone (which was already suspected), Isco & Illara will still be bench sitters (expected for Illara but I do like Isco but he wasn't given as much of chance once the first month or 2 of the season got going). And of course will Khedira be staying or going?? And in about 6 months I would assume Jese' will be back to up Benzema.

Also I have to assume Diego Lopez will stay the starter and Casillas as the back up considering how bad the WC went for him

Should be interesting.

Markovic to Liverpool is done as well and Costa finally signed his papers at Chelsea - 5 year deal.

And seriously please tell me Vertonghen is not coming to Barca. Barca needs a CB or 2. Vertonghen has played CB I know but is more of a LB and BTW he makes as many mistakes as the kids on my sons U12 team do. He is a big body and not a terrible defender but come on Barca material?

Jermaine Jones wants a move to MLS as well. Bring him on in, love to see him on a MLS team wrecking someone in midfield. Question is who else can burn a DP spot on him as he sure as hell won't come to the US for the chump change a lot of the players get now. Perhaps got to Orlando with Kaka for the 2015 season?

STOP FOOTBALL

Okay, now that's out of the way, I have no idea what Barca are doing anymore.

Looks like Conte has resigned as Juve manager

Wow Conte is gone. I guess he saw that Juve was losing players and just doesn't want the fight anymore, yikes. Did not see that one coming.

Not sure that anyone did, really. First I saw of it was James Horncastle's tweet, and he seemed completely caught by surprise.

The Bin Dippers have officially signed Lazar Markovic

Premier League - Liverpool confirm signing of Markovic

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of 20-year-old Serbian international Lazar Markovic from Benfica.

Eurosport

No fee was announced but media reports said the 20-year-old had been signed from Benfica for 20 million.

The highly-rated left-sided attacker joins England internationals and former Southampton pair Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana as well as Germany Under-21 midfielder Emre Can at Anfield.

There has been whispers for a while now, picking up in intensity over the last few days. Was referred to in most articles concerning the future of Juve's players.

Not BVB.

Well, I did say I would never suggest Hoffenheim to a German. Should have added, or to any follower of the BuLi.

Well I root for Dortmund (sorry). I just can't root for a team with Robben & Ribery on it uggh! Two of my least favorite players (right there with Rafa Marquez of Mexico and Pepe of Madrid).

So, Allegri or Mancini for Juve?

And does Conte take the Italian Job?

IMO Mancini is a terrible allenatore, although I loved him as a player.

Rumor has it, Khedira will be a Gunner this season?

Does Conte's departure assure that Vidal is being sold?

I really hope it isn't to United. Blah.

Re: One and Only 2014-2015 Football (soccer) thread: All Leagues Edition

I think Man U will splash enough cash to get Vidal. I think Conte will take the Italian job I mean where else would he go? Seems to be a good fit for him.

Allegri to Juve - hmmm we'll see how this works out but he does seem to be a good choice.

Navas to RM - good. I thought he was headed to BM but rather him stay in La Liga. Lopez is probably out to Monaco which means Casillas better get his sh*t together if he wants to keep playing.

Felipe Luis to Chelsea - uggh

Rodriguez seems all but set to be headed to RM with Monaco trying to do a deal for Griezman

Barca have upped their bid for Mathieu and loaned Tello out to Porto

Khedira to Arsenal may not happen as his salary is reported as being more than Ozil's and Sanchez's. Sorry but Khedira is not worth more than those guys IMHO. Also word has Mr. Wonderful (Mourinho) has now jumped in on the bidding for Khedira in order to block Arsenal (much like he did to them last year and like he did to Tottenham over Willian).

And during his press conference:

Fabrizio Romano ✔ @FabrizioRomano

Marotta, Juve CEO:

"Vidal is our player, big clubs asked for him but he'll stay and he's happy here. We’ve never put him up for sale"

Serie A fans - is Argentine winger Juan Iturbe the real deal?

Sounds like he is on his way to Roma from Verona for 30m Euros.

Yeah this one has been going on for a few weeks. Chelsea was trying to be cheap and started at like 10 mil. Athleti said no we want 20 mil and stuck to that all the way to the end. Looks like they got what they wanted.

Yes, though I am not sure if he will ever live up to his hype from a few years ago.

Also not sure how well he will work with this Roma squad. But I think it an encouraging sign for Roma, as they beat out Juve, Atleti, Benefica, and some supposed late interest from Bayern.

Completely agree, though his attire is usually spot on.

I meant to ask you earlier, have you heard the rumours of Mihajlović leaving Sampdoria?

He's too good to backup Manu and Manu can't be challenged right now.

It appears that Kroos to Real will be finalized, as he's in Spain right now. I'm sad to see him go, however that midfield is too crowded as it is.

Kroos will make marginally more money than the final Bayern offer, however RM has the same problem Bayern has. Too much talent and not enough slots. With all of the players RM is linked to, it's only going to get worse.

Yeah but as many have said before when you look at how many games clubs like Barca, RM, BM typically play each season you need that depth. Problem is a lot of these guys won't sit the bench.

I'll tell you one thing many of these clubs need to do and that is rest some of their stars more often. Messi, Ronaldo in particular. I know they want to play every min of every game but think of how much better off they would be late in the season if they got a break - especially in games that have no meaning or real competition.

Look at Pep's rotation system in 13/14 and a number of players griped about not getting regular time.

No, I haven't. I saw he was supposedly meeting with the Bianconero directors, but clearly nothing came of that.
