ESPN has a cool infographic.

Linked, but its gigantic even on my 27" monitor.

Still a slight regret that this didn't happen in a Cardinal uniform, but happy for Pujols.

Congrats to Fernandez on another lights-out pitching performance against the Braves. At least this game wasn't loaded with chest-beating.

I didn't keep up with them during the offseason - what roster changes did they make to start out so god-awful?

Lost Corbin to injury, traded for Addison Reed, traded for Trumbo. Those are really the only moves they made.

Wow. Rangers screw up a squeeze play with one out in the 9th, then proceed to get a double and single to take the lead. Soria closes out Oakland pretty easily. Never would have expected that.

Oakland needs to find somebody else to close, again.

Astros minor leaguer Delino DeShields, Jr. took a 90mph fastball to the face the other day. He had a little bit of swelling:

Is there a worse MLB radio play-by-play announcer than John Sterling(NY Yankees) He doesn't know the difference between a homerun and a ball hit off the wall. His side-kick(a woman) isn't much better.

Is he the announcer who has to add a tagline everytime a Yankee hits a Homerun? "ARod just hit an A-A-A-Bomb!"

And thanks to the Steroid Era, Albert Pujols hits #500 last night, and nobody cares! This used to be a big event and a huge milestone, and all it did for me last night was question how long Pujols was on the juice during his career?

It's starting to become a rarity again...not many players on the list right now who will achieve that feat in the next 10 years.

Yes, he is. And if you heard the nonsense that he's been using for home run calls this year you'd think he's just trolling Yankee fans.

There isn't a single Yankee fan that enjoys listening to him. It baffles me that the team in the biggest media market continues to trot him and his sidekick out there on the radio. During day games while I'm at work, I'll listen to the opposing teams broadcast.

Why are you winking when it's totally true?

I was telling someone the other day that the Astros have a much brighter future than the Mariners. I guess they have a brighter present as well!

I watched part of the game and saw the golden boy George Springer. He looked kinda bad striking out on a pitch that tailed in on him, but it was only one at bat.

He hit between 32-49 per year over an eleven year span. He never had any outrageously high home run totals, nor did he have any low ones.

The greedy fuck was Superman, and he was consistent as hell.

Winked because the Astros are worse. They'll lose 100 games again.

Springer will need a bit of an adjustment period, but he'll be fine. I'm not concerned until he's had 100 PA and he's still struggling.

Strikeouts will always be a part of his game though.

It seems likely that they'll lose more games, but they played the Mariners to a virtual standstill last year and have pounded them this year. I remember when the Mariners were excited to add instant divisional wins when the Astros came over, but it hasn't worked out that way.

Right. Despite the obvious tools, that seems to be the major concern about whether he'll be an elite player.

I think Cano makes more than the entire Houston roster.

The Astros had a $24MM payroll in 2013 and this year bumped it to $44MM

He's the same guy who uses that "Baaahaaah ha Yankees win, Yankees win" line right? It's too bad since I actually like some of the guys the Yankees use as color commentators (on tv).

The Mariners don't have a bad farm system though. It's just that most of their top prospects are pitchers which are more volitale. The Astros have a nice mix of postion players and pitchers that are supposed to come up soon. Next up should be 1b Jon Singleton who was acquired in the Hunter Pence trade. That trade also brought Jared Cosart (in majors) and another OF Domingo Santana, who is in AAA and should be up in the majors in the next year or so.

The pitching prospects are more volatile, and the young position core--Smoak, Ackley, Montero, Seager, Saunders, Gutierrez, other guys who aren't around any more--hasn't established itself. According to the master plan, that would have happened by now, just as the young pitchers--including Hultzen--arrived.

The only guy who looked like he was set was Kyle Seager, and now he's turned to shit as well.

The Cubs are celebrating 100 years of mediocrity at Wrigley Field today. OK, mediocrity might be too nice a word.

Kudos to the D-Backs for agreeing to wear the uniforms of a team they have absolutely no type of association with.

It's the Kansas City Packers Of Arizona Vs. The Chicago Federal Cubs!

I was listening to an Oriole radio broadcast the other day and Jim Hunter was doing the play-by-play so I turned it off. He is known for mentioning that an Oriole has a 2-game hitting streak.
