Re: 2013 NFL Playoffs Thread - Conference Championships -- 01/19/2014

Don't understand the hate for the Niners since this is not the 80's and 90's where they won multiple Super Bowls.

Don't forget the week 2 Niners/Seattle game was competitive and the Niners D shut down Russell Wilson for most of that game until near the end of the 3rd quarter.

Crabtree was not playing in that game and Kaep was throwing to Kyle Williams and Bruce Miller not exactly the most explosive guys and the Niners D is better now since Nnamdi Asomugha who played in that game is no longer on the team.

If the Niners can overcome 4 degree weather in Green Bay I think they can handle the noise.

I can't imagine missing watching a Super Bowl. Even if it is two teams I despise I will still watch just because it's the Super Bowl.
There was no bye week after the 1990 49ers/Giants NFC title game and that loss was so painful it was hard to recover in 7 days to watch the Super Bowl.

Seahawks did not get jobbed and the Steelers were the better team.

Steelers got jobbed in Super Bowl 30 since somebody paid off Neil O' Donnell to throw those INTs to Larry Brown.

The Seattle pass rush and secondary will not be as forgiving with Kaep as the Green Bay's was. I don't know how he looked on TV but in person I was not impressed by his passing at all (granted, it was no summer day), and several throws would have been picked with even moderately better safety play, including the Vernon Davis TD. And as I recall his called runs didn't do that much harm and it was almost exclusively drop back scrambles that he did his damage on. Again, I just don't see Seattle being as vulnerable in those areas. Green Bay and their shaky defense that lost three more starters during the game lead 17-13 in the 4th quarter (until the above mentioned Davis TD).

I see Seattle being able to do just enough offensively to beat SF, who in turn will struggle on offense more than in the past two weeks.

Re: 2013 NFL Playoffs Thread - Conference Championships -- 01/19/2014

Kaepernick is the key to the game. If he panics, and makes bad choices, the 49ers will be watching the Seahawks play in and most likely win the Super Bowl.

People say stopping Lynch is key, and that's partially true. But the real key is Kaepernick looking for a second receiver when the first one is covered, and more importantly, running with the ball. He has looked like his old self the past few games.

I still expect the Seahawks to win, but I hope I'm wrong. Maybe the 49ers will get lucky since Keyshawn Johnson has picked against them again (he picked Green Bay and Carolina as well)

Curious why you hate them? We haven't gone deep since the 98-99 superbowls.

Seahawks (but hoping for San Fran)
Broncos (why not us?)

Damn Colorado teams, always inconsistent, I just hope the Broncos that can bang with anybody show up on Sunday and not the team that struggles with the Chargers.

I have been a Seahawks fan a long time, and we played Denver a lot more than we've played SF, so I had lots of time to build up that hate. It doesn't just go away. Plus I've never been a Peyton Manning fan and they still have Elway involved.

I saw that too, and was not happy. Luckily, Ditka picked SF, so I'm hoping his bad picking mojo somewhat counteracts Keyshawn Johnson.

With 50 votes in, the picks are breaking down as follows:

33 people took Denver, 17 New England
30 people took Seattle, 20 San Francisco

Re: 2013 NFL Playoffs Thread - Conference Championships -- 01/19/2014

Bradshaw picked SF so I am worried since he picked GB and CAR earlier.

Arizona beat Seattle in Seattle and SF beat AZ in AZ. Is there a correlation?

Whenever I turn on the NFL Network they are showing that Seattle/SF blowout in week 2.

Glad the early game starts at 12pm and I wish they would do that for the regular season too and the late game at 3pm or 3:30pm and SNF at 6 or 6:30pm would be better.

Who cares if 60 Minutes gets delayed or the other shows in primetime since football triples the ratings of those shows.

10am is too early for football.

Harbaugh and his wife so planned this. What a great way to earn some extra big bucks in endorsements.

No surprise, but Harvin's been officially declared out.

Bradshaw picked NO over SEA as well.

Seattle beat AZ in AZ as well. I think it's really hard to extrapolate considering all these games happen at different times under different circumstances.

(Yes, he actually said that during the broadcast of the Steelers/Seahawks Super Bowl.)

To hell it is, 10am football on the West Coast is the greatest. Can"t think one good reason to move it to 12.

SNF at 6 or 6:30? Not a very good idea.

That would totally suck for the east coast. Waiting til 3p on a Sunday, 9:30 SNF. Fuck that - we already have to accommodate the West Coast for night games (I want SNF/MNF at 8p sharp). 10a only sucks if you're waking up with a hangover in Vegas and have to get your bets in.

So the Seahawks fans want Seattle to win and the 49ers fans want San Francisco to win. That's the easy part. Then we have the Cowboys fans (are there any left?) that hate the 49ers and want them to lose just because they didn't win, the Steelers fans that want the 49ers to lose because they what to be the sole member of the six titles club, and the Giants fans that want the 49ers to lose because well I don't know.

Packers fans would just assume both cities fall into the Pacific.

Honestly though, most of us probably will pull for Seattle because of Wilson.

Jerry Rice fumbled, and M.D. Jennings made the pick.

NFL has such a hard-on today for the Brady-Manning match-up.
ESPN and NFL.com, all they had all week were these Two.Pictures all over.Articles comparing this and that. They made up stupid little blubs just to make sure their front pages had enough Brady/Manning.

In the end I want Seattle to win so both guys go home long-faced and crying.

Good weather today in Seattle, 12 flags everywhere you look!

Wish the games weren't so close together... it's gonna be seven straights hours of football!
