Gave up two leads. Win on obstruction. Crazy. Great fucking call. My buddy called it as it happened. Holy shit.

They might have re-injured him on that play. UGH!

Yeah, to me that's the takeaway from that final sequence.

In slow motion, it looked to me more like Middlebrooks was trying to get up, albeit awkwardly. Not that it matters- the umps nailed that call.

The legs went up but was it intentional? I hate the Red Sox as much as the next guy but it seems they got hosed on this one.

I always get up from a prone position by first lifting my lower legs up at a 90 degree angle.

Salt could have stuck the ball in his pocket after getting the second out at home and then live for another batter only needing one more out. Instead, he decided once again to throw it to third and once again the ball got away. They deserved to lose regardless if the play was truly interference or not, which it was.

I totally agree. He just wanted to be the hero, and ended up the goat.

I almost thought it was Napoli that threw it away. I've seen that play so many times as an Angels fan.

Doesn't matter if it's intentional or not, I think Craig would have scored anyway if you think about how much time he lost trying to leave third and falling. I also think Craig re-injured his foot when he got tangled up at third. You can see it looks like he's struggling to make it to home plate.

Have you noticed this World Series is having every game being decided by just flat-out crazy happenings on the field?

Watch the Red Sox win tomorrow night on another crazy play at the rate things are going.

His legs went up a second time and were in Craig's way.

Re: MLB 2013 Playoffs, World Series Edition - Cardinals vs. Red Sox

Huh, weird ending. I don't think his legs coming up or not really factor into it, as he still would have been obstructing the runner---and really there was no way he could have had time to get out of the way of the runner----but, I guess the rules state that it doesn't matter if it's intentional or not, it's still obstruction. Kind of an ugly ending, but I guess it was the correct call.

Will Middlebrooks just said that he was pushing himself up and felt Craig on top of him. I never saw Will pushing anything up except for his lower legs. After another viewing you can see Will trying to push up but at the same time his legs go up once again.

Middlebrooks said after the game that he wasn't in the baseline. He was 5 feet inside of the baseline, maybe more.

What "bad" call is Peavy referring to in the second game? He said that this was the second bad call made in this series. Second bad throw? Yes!

Didn't hear Peavy's quote, but if he's referring to the 2nd bad call in the series, he's likely referring to Demuth's call at 2nd that was reversed in game 1.

I guess Uehara got the loss since Craig was actually his runner and he scored after the first runner, which belonged to the previous pitches, was actually thrown out at the plate.

He was acting as if the Red Sox have lost both games in this series by bad calls. That is the way his post-game interview went.

Interesting footnote: The last time a World Series game ended on an error was the Buckner play in 1986.
