Re: MLB 2012 Playoffs, World Series Edition

Since it worked in the NLDS and NLCS:

So let me just continue the trend here and say that the Giants have no chance and will lose the World Series.

Hard to know if that would have been the difference but playing the worst 4 teams that much less certainly didn't help the Dodgers chances.

You must think that Arizona, San Diego and Colorado are some juggernauts. I actually think that the West was an overall easier division that the Central. There was really only one other good team for the top contenders to be ready for in the division. The rest were mediocre to poor.

This is why MLB should go back to 4 divisions, and each division will have a winner who gets a bye and the 2nd/3rd place teams play in the wildcard play-in game. That way everyone in each division would have a balanced schedule and you would essentially be competing for a playoff spot all year within your division. Plus you would have 12 total teams in the playoffs to make the smaller market fans think they have more of a chance every year.

NL East: Division winner plays winner of #2 vs # 3

NL West: Division winner plays winner of #2 vs # 3

AL East: Division winner plays winner of #2 vs # 3

AL West: Division winner plays winner of #2 vs # 3

Having divisions is now pretty arbitrary, but in most years the winner is at least among the best teams in the league (or at least in the Top 5). This year was a bit of an anomaly as the Tigers would have finished 4th in either the AL West or AL East with their record, but at least teams competing for a division winner spot in the playoffs are playing similar schedules (minus some interleague game differences).
The light of God has shined on you.

AL Central is weak and that's why the Tigers have the worst AL record in the post season. What like Tigers & White Sox were only 2 teams over .500 in that division?

Detroit is 7-2 in the post season, by far the best AL record.

Your sports posts are less coherent than Reggieray. It's one thing to be sarcastic and funny but your data / logic (and grammar) is fucking ridiculous and wrong.

The Tigers, White Sox, Cardinals and Giants played the games they were told to play. The Tigers and Giants won their division despite the other teams not being juggernauts. I'll enjoy this World Series so much more knowing the Tigers "squeaked" in and wm lopez has a red-ass over it. Go root for your Cubs and leave real baseball to people who understand it.

I understand there are fans that don't care if players took droids and now that teams with less than 90 wins can be world champions.
I believe Aaron, Maris hold the homer records and don't respect whoever wins this World Series. To me the Nationals are my champs for 2012.

"On two fastballs that traveled a combined 190mph"

I'm pretty sure that's not how it works Mr McCarver.

Nothing against the Tigers, I just really want to see Zito outpitch Verlander tomorrow. It would just be a cool story if he did.

Re: MLB 2012 Playoffs, World Series Edition

I know he hasn't done much offensively this postseason (although he had the most important hit of the NLCS) but a lot of the Giants success is due to Hunter Pence. He is great clubhouse presence who has given them a confidence and belief in themselves that they sorely needed after Melky was suspended.
