Why would you want him to run in The Classic? He would face older horses.

The field would be bigger - and better that he faced as a 3-year old.

He accomplished a hell of a lot more than I believed he would.

Let's face it - this was not the best year for 3-year old

I want to see him face older horses, including Beholder. I want to see all the best horses in the Classic.

Wise Dan on track for the Woodbine Mile, Sept. 13.

Baffert says AP to be pointed toward the Classic, with a possible prep in between.

He may not be among the best horses - that's the point. If should - well if would increase his stature. If he loses - what then?

I think you will agree - it's not best year for 3-year olds.

Re: Horse Racing -- The Sport of Kings -- 2012 and beyond

If he loses, he loses. Why should I care? I don't care about his stature (he'll always be a TC winner). I'm not invested in him outside of betting. Neither are you. So why do you not want him to run? Who do you rate ahead of him at this point? Honor Code? Beholder? Who else?

Not the best year....compared to what? Are the older horses that great this year? Are you big on Honor Code and Beholder? Who else?

Sheesh, he loses by half a length in the 2nd fastest Travers in the last 2 decades, and all the sudden you're completely down on him. What a fair weather fan.

Great time for Liam's Map at 1 1/8 in the Woodward.

Tonalist wins the JCGC. Man, he loves that track, even in the slop

1 month from the Breeders Cup. I've got my ticket.

Yeah, that sucks. I was really looking forward to seeing AP and her battle. AP's ML odds were shortened to 4-5.

Re: Horse Racing -- The Sport of Kings -- 2012 and beyond

Awesome to see the champ in person. Grand slam. Had to bet against him for value with honor code. Oh well.

The most impressive horse I saw this weekend was Liam's Map. After he won I was shaking my head. Should have raced him in the classic.

Really enjoyed Keenland

Very happy for American Pharoah. Time for retirement? Triple crown + BC Classic. No point in going to Dubai, right? I think it's time.

I knew he beat the track record, but by 5 seconds? That's insane. He earned an astounding 120 Beyer figure.

AP's stud fee for 2016 will be $200K. That should bring in a cool $40M or so.

His sire, Pioneer of the Nile, will have an increase to $125K from $60K.

Sad to see Shared Belief die from colic surgery.

Less sad news...Trevor Denman retiring as the Santa Anita announcer after 33 years. One of my favorites. Will never forget his call of Zenyatta's BCC win. He'll still call races at Del Mar.

The Juvenile Filly champ Songbird looked phenomenal yesterday. Will be interesting to see if they keep her pointed to the Oaks rather than Derby.

Mohayman no problem in the FOY. That's a Derby clincher. Had the distance too.

Songbird has the makings of a great filly. Saw her easily win the BC Juvenile Filly last fall. Won the Grade III Santa Ysabel at Santa Anita yesterday.

California Chrome takes it rather easily. Wide, but smooth ride.
