Re: Horse Racing -- The Sport of Kings -- 2012 and beyond

A joke? I thought it was a pretty easy choice. Bayern would definitely have deserved Horse of November if there were such an award, but no way does he deserve HOTY with 2 Grade 1 wins.
It's called Horse of the Year for a reason. By your logic, why not just do away with the award show and hand out the award at the finish line of the BC Classic every year?

I just hope we get Chrome, Bayern, and Shared Belief in the San Antonio Hdcp on Feb. 7.

You can't ignore the fact that Bayern beat CC twice in Grade 1 races - including the most important Grade 1.

I would like to see a match race between the two.

What did CC win after the spring races?

btw: what he win after the BC - a $300,000 grass race with a field that no one had heard of?

I hope to see the 3 run in the San Antonio handicap - I don't think we will see it.

btw: How many races did CC win after the spring races?

The Breeder's Cup Classic, which some would argue Bayern should have been DQ'ed from, and what was the other Grade 1 that Bayern beat him in? I just remember the Penn Derby, which was Chrome's first race back after his layoff if I remember right.

Just the Grade 1 on turf I believe (which you try to discount for some reason).

I discount any race that is a Grade 1 - with only a $300,000 purse and that small of a field that was weak.

Re: Horse Racing -- The Sport of Kings -- 2012 and beyond

The Holy Bull Stakes is run tomorrow at Gulfstream Park. It is a race for 3-year olds, Grade2 1 1/16 miles, the purse is $400,00

Upstart is the 2-1 ML favorite. Frosted is second choice at 5-2.

There are 10 horses slated to run. The surprising part (for my prospective) is that John Velasquez's mount, Decision Day, is at 30-1. When is the last time John Velasquez has been the mount for a 30-1 shot?

btw: Notice - Grade 2 - $400,000 purse.

Looks like we'll only get 2 out of the 3.

I would like to seen a healthy Bayern run against the two in the San Antonio Hdcp.

Maybe you would be convinced then that Bayern is a better horse than CC.

He might BE a better horse, but Chrome had the better year. And judging by the voting, you are in a pretty big minority that thinks otherwise.

California Chrome, Main Sequence, & Bayern have been nominated for The Dubai World Cup.

Baffert horses have won the WC twice. I know Silver Charm was one of them - I can't remember the other - looked it up - Captain Steve.

One thing that would favor all three is the surface - dirt. Meydan did away with a tepeta surface. It's still not the course that Nad Al Sheba was.

FS1 has the Donn Hdcp and San Antonio Hdcp from 5:30-7:30p.

Interested in seeing Lea in the Donn. Kind of fell off the radar last year after the good start.

That was horrible by FOX. I should have watched it online on twinspires.

1:49.51. Not terrible, but this was the 2nd tier of older horses.

It's just 5 seconds (approx.) off the record for 1 1/8 miles.

Constitution with a 113 BSF. Go figure. Must have been a slow track.

Shared Belief 106.

Good news concerning TV coverage of horse racing - TVG has purchased HRTV.

Maybe we will get decent coverage of a few tracks.
