I can't believe the number of people and reviews that are saying that Cena was better than The Rock on the mike last night on Raw! I thought the Rock made Cena look horrible and Cena came across as very weak! Meanwhile, everyone was raving about Cena.

I only saw the last 20 minutes of Raw last night. Did I miss something?

^ You must have been reading about the prior week's Raw, where Cena did rip Rock a new one, but Rock was not there to dispute it. This past week saw Rock address pretty much every shortcoming Cena enumerated and provide a valid explanation for his actions. Basically, both did exceptionally good promos in their respective weeks, though Rock clearly has the audience on his side.

Match added to Wrestlemania XXVIII last night at Smackdown tapings. Not really a surprise but wanted to spoilerize it because it hasn't happened on TV yet:

Spoiler:
Cody Rhodes v. Big Show for the IC Title.

I'm not a huge fan of Big Show in the ring but I am really happy to have the IC title being defended at Mania.

No, I was talking about this past Mon. Everyone's saying Cena did way better because he called the Rock on the notes he wrote on his hand (which I didn't notice and didn't think anything of it when Cena said it)

Re: The March '12 Pro Wrestling Thread - Victory Road to Wrestlemania

I thought Cena did better and I'm not a fan of his. Rock seemed a bit distracted, the chanting stuff gets old if you're not in the arena, and he seemed thrown that Cena called him on the notes thing.

Now that might have been on purpose to give Cena the upper hand this week as Rock's going to be at every Raw until Wrestlemania and will have plenty of chances to come out on top but either way I think Cena came off better last night.

I don't think calling Rock on having notes qualifies as completely owning him. Rock's promo was more of an argumentative nature whereas Cena's seemed like plain dissing to me. In all honesty, I would say it was very reflective of the personalities and demographics of the kind of fans rooting for the respective camps.

I'm a fan of
Spoiler:
the IC Title being defended there, but not of that match. Show is just not good in the ring...I would've rather see Rhodes with someone that can go. Rhodes is one of my favorites, though, so I'm biased.

Rock is not going to be at every RAW until Mania...I think there's at least two that he won't be at.

I wonder if there's any chances of Ryder getting his US Title rematch against Swagger at Mania...although I think a Ryder/Kane match might make even more sense. Hoping for one of those...Ryder not being on Mania at this point would be a crime, IMO.

In fairness, I make these statements fully acknowledging I haven't seen last week's Smackdown or RAW this week yet.

Re: The March '12 Pro Wrestling Thread - Victory Road to Wrestlemania

Cody Rhodes has been champ the longest of all current champs.
I did a little research and found:

He is currently the 16th longest reigning IC champ.
If he holds the title until WM, he will jump to #8.
For him to pass Honky Tonk Man, he will need to hold the title until about the 2nd week of November.

Does anyone here even watch Impact anymore? I DVR it, but don't feel the need to tune in regularly.

i still watch it weekly and for the most part enjoy it. it is frustrating tho because when they get something right they ruin it or milk it to death.

i still think they have alot going for them and have some amazing talent they just don't know what to do with it.

the main event scene at the moment excellent with roode(i believe thats how its spelt), Storm, Bully Raw, Hardy, etc nd then they screw it up and put sting in the main event. and tease hogan re entering the ring when he takes 5 minutes to drop to his knees.

I still watch it weekly, along with ROH. I guess I just never have a lot to say about either show, but I enjoy watching them.

ROH isn't on HDNet anymore. They are on Sinclair Broadcasting Network stations.

https://www.rohwrestling.com/content...s-updated-2412

If you don't get any of these stations you can watch it online by going to TV and Watch Now on ROH's website. New shows are available every Thursday.

I have to admit I stopped watching it because it started to all feel the same to me but I have been meaning to get back into it.

Re: The March '12 Pro Wrestling Thread - Victory Road to Wrestlemania

^ No stations in my area. Will try the website.

I agree with the complaints about TNA being really good at getting you interested but failing to maintain the interest. Unfortunately, this is about par for Eric Bischoff and the current creative staff. When WCW was in its last year, he and Russo did a good job of writing the first chapter of stories, but never really worked to build momentum afterward. Everyone pretty much agrees that Bischoff in his time at WCW only had one great idea, the nWo, and he didn't know how to do anything but present it again and again. Russo might have jump started the WWF's Attitude era, but McMahon was there to act as an "editor" of sorts for his ideas. Once he was in WCW, he had no editor and was allowed to go nuts. Shame Dixie Carter can't realize any of this, though getting rid of Russo was a step in the right direction.

Re: The March '12 Pro Wrestling Thread - Victory Road to Wrestlemania

- The verbal battle between The Rock and John Cena on Monday's RAW Supershow from Portland was designed for Cena to get the upper-hand this time around. This was achieved by having Cena point out that Rock had notes for his promo written on his wrist. Some in WWE claim that Cena pointing this out was unscripted.
Given how obvious it was what was on the Rock's arm, and the fact that numerous wrestlers including Cena have had stuff written on their arms during promos, I'd say that part was scripted.

Re: The March '12 Pro Wrestling Thread - Victory Road to Wrestlemania

WWE has published their 10-K report for 2011 and it includes their wrestling contract with Paul Levesque (a/k/a Triple H). The new agreement went into effect January 1, 2012 and expires on March 30, 2016, when he is 46 years old.
Highlights:

* Levesque will be paid a 'Minimum Annual Compensation' of $1 million for each year under contract.

* Levesque will be limited to 180 dates per year, unless both parties mutually agree to extend beyond that number.

* Levesque cannot work or perform in any capacity for any 'martial arts' organization while under contract.
BTW, Y2J is going on tour again in June. I didn't expect him to stay around long.

Are we sure about the WM28 start time in the original post? I thoughts Manias were recently 4 hours and started an hour earlier.

Like I said earlier, if the whole plan for Cena to gain the advantage was to have him point out that Rock had notes, which most people couldn't see , written on his hand then it failed.

If that were the case with Cena, then tv should have went off the air before Rock had a chance to rebuff. And it almost seemed like it since Rock gave quite a long pause before calling Cena out again.

I'll change it. The last Wrestlemania I watched live was 18, and that started at 8:00 (due to Sunday Night Heat being at 7:00pm).

The Rock is supposed to be back on Raw to confront Cena. It's in Boston which is Cena's hometown. Should be fun.
