Fun come back by the East. Can't believe Lebron passed rather then taking that shot at the end.

I am going to bet Kobe or Jordan would not have passed. Congrats Durant you are a stud.

I can because he seems to always do it at the end of games.

Apparently Kobe suffered a nasal fracture in the All-Star game. I didn't watch the game, did anyone see the injury?

Thanks for posting since I didn't watch the broadcast or highlights. It looked much better from the original camera--pulled out to a distance, there was more separation between the balls and the basket, making it look more like he was throwing them in instead of dunking.

Exactly. I hope he got a bonus in his endorsement deal for that move.

Wade hacked him from behind to prevent a layup (or dunk maybe)

What's to believe? LeBron was at least 30 feet away from the basket and was about to be doubled. Passing to an open teammate? Not a problem. The problem is that LeBron should have went to Carmelo instead of across the floor to Wade.

As for Kobe telling him to shoot--whatever. Kobe was pissed because he was nursing a broken nose/possible concussion. He would have hollered at anyone at the point.

Folks are making a story where there isn't one.

Six seconds left, the ball swung back to James, and he threw a long crosscourt pass that the West’s Blake Griffin grabbed before it could ever reach Wade. The expressions on Bryant and Carmelo Anthony’s faces – one an opponent and an enemy, one a teammate and a close friend – were unmistakable: Are you kidding me, LeBron?

I think Carmelo was frowning because he DIDN'T get the ball. But I'm only going on clips I've seen. I didn't watch the game.

Re: 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend Thread

For Lebron haters like myself, it's a fun story Come on, he had already tied the all-star game record for 3's, led the comeback after being down by 20 points, and in the last 3 plays with the game on the line he defers? The guy is just so damn afraid of being embarrassed.

If LeBron had taken (and made) the winning shot last night, everyone in here would be making jokes about how he's only able to do it in a meaningless exhibition game. The guy can't win.

I don't see why you would be surprised, the MLB and NBA all-star games seem pretty popular.

Re: 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend Thread

I'll admit, it is tough to watch guys blatantly shying away from the basket on defense to allow their friends on the other team to dunk. I forget who said it last night, but someone was saying it must be tough to be Chris Paul, since he's always the last line of defense on these fast breaks and has to watch people dunking over him (not to mention he will never get the ball back once he gives it up on offense).

Still, most of it is fun to watch, and the 4th quarter is usually interesting, in this case with Lebron pretty much getting them back in it. Barkley mentioned that there are always some guys taking it too seriously in the beginning, forcing the other team to catch up later, and in this case Bryant (going for the record), Durant, and Westbrook were going for it in the first half. Lebron was pretty amazing especially when he started hitting those threes (and at some point in the game you have to question taking jump shots when anyone can pretty much get into the paint for a dunk). But yeah, even he admitted that last pass was terrible, and once again you have a guy putting up monster stats, bringing his team to the brink and then losing in the end (I think that happened last year too).

I was wrong about Iggy, he's a pretty good fit for the all star game, even if he doesn't have to play defense. Blake Griffin was definitely built for the All Star Game, partly because he doesn't have to play defense. At one point the announcer got confused the same way I was all game long, between Marc Gasol and Kevin Love.

At least I freely admit my bias But I see what you mean, I have the same issue with Henry Abbott on ESPN TrueHoop that seems to hate Kobe Bryant.

Re: 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend Thread

I enjoy Woj's columns and his appearances on NBC Sportstalk. He gets all the good scoops and inside info that alot of sports journalists just don't get. (He is sort of the Bob Woodward of the NBA beat). I'm sure he has a bias against Lebron, but the 'legacy' columns is the stuff I'm just not into, as I just read the inside scoop and behind the scenes stuff he writes.

I don't think it's really "anti" if everyone else in the media is kissing his ass. It's just objectivity.

There are 4 major sports? I only count one and a half. The NBA All-Star is the only one I watch, though. When I was a kid, I loved the Pro Bowl for some reason, but even though the NFL is, by far, my favorite league, the PB is beyond terrible now. Maybe it always was and I was just easier to impress as a kid. Or maybe it was because my team (the Browns) actually had someone besides a offensive lineman in the game.
