Sad. I wonder if the fighters are going to get just as badly ripped off with the new Venum deal.

Corey Hill’s shin snapping is still the worst I’ve seen.

After Dustin knocks out Conor again tomorrow night, I think itís 50/50 whether his next fight will be against Nate Diaz or if heíll go straight to fighting either Jake or Logan Paul.

The card is in Houston. Hadn't planned to attend even before Nunes pulled out. I'll watch with friends at a local bar to support Black Beast. But expecting Gane to win, he's the truth and a future champ (and not just interim)

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

Such a waste of an interim title. Those could have been 2 fights for Ngannou. But Ngannou went public biting the hand that feeds, so Dana pulled a typical Dana. "Listen we offered him the fight, he didn't want the fight, this is a businesss, blah blah blah" I hope Ngannou knocks both their heads off. Dana's too.

Pretty fun card. Gane won comfortably like I thought he would, but I am most happy about Chiesa getting choked out

that was like the grappling version of Pat Barry and Cheick Kongo. Chiesa looks like heís on the verge of choking out Luque and then boom, gets choked out himself.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

Watched Davis vs. Romero tonight, probably the first fight Iíve watched in a few years, and I see the judging hasnít changed much. I have no idea how anyone could score a round for Romero, and somehow one judge gave him 2 rounds.

And Romero thinking the fight was 5 rounds was the cherry on top.

Also, Fedor is still fighting

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

Wasn't it a pretty boring fight too? Skipped it

Excited about the UFC PPV this weekend. I'll be traveling to California, but hope to find a bar to watch this at.

The big curiosity: how will Nick Diaz look in his return? Been over 6.5 years since he's fought....10 years since he last won a fight.

That said, I think Lawler is completely washed and can't pull the trigger anymore. I don't understand how in his last few fights he's just been rope a doping and not showing any aggression.

I've got Diaz by decision. I'm skeptical he'll look good doing it though

Also rooting for Ortega to take the belt from Volkanovski. I was a fan of Volk's in his rise through the ranks, but he plays it so safe now. No risks, no attempts to KO guys. Leg kicks, clinching up against the fence, dancing and jabbing now. Boring.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

Never thought I'd see a Diaz bro quit. It was a competitive 1st round that I think most people gave to Diaz. Then he slowed down and didn't react well to getting hit, eventually saying no mas

Great main event, but I was bummed when Volk didn't tap to either of those two tight subs Ortega had

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

How does everyone feel about the PPV price hike to 75 bucks?

I just canceled my ESPN plus subscription.

This really sucks....UFC events were the one thing I got super excited for. I was so looking forward to this Saturdays fight until hey announced the price hike. Dana is paying dumb saying he understands where us fans are coming from but he can't do anything about it.....nonsense.

I can afford them but thays not the point.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Re: The Official MMA Thread - Part IX

I can't believe I haven't commented since September. I've been watching though.

I hate the price hike too. $70 was already pushing it, but $75 is a slap in the face to fans. Unless it's an amazing card with 3 title fights, I doubt I will be buying PPVs anymore...instead, I'll go to a bar or find a stream online

Same. The price hike eliminates any chance of me paying for an "impulse buy" too.

Cain Velasquez arrested for attempted murder not far from where I live

Former UFC star Cain Velasquez, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting in the South Bay Monday, may have been targeting a man suspected of abusing a family member, sources tell NBC Bay Area.

Police say Velasquez is suspected of shooting a man in the area of Monterey Highway and Bailey Avenue. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Last week, sheriff's deputies arrested 43-year-old Harry Eugene Goularte at a San Martin day care center. He's facing charges of lewd acts with a child, but he is currently out of jail on his own recognizance without any bond.

Police sources close to the investigation as well as friends of the family tell NBC Bay Area one of the alleged abuse victims is related to Velasquez.

The statement of fact written by the investigating detective states the victim reported the abuse occurred in the day care bathroom, and the victim saw other children go in there with Goularte as well, but that Goularte denied any wrongdoing, saying he once just helped a child put his pants on correctly.

Sources say Goularte and his father were in the car Velasquez allegedly shot at on Monday. Golarte's father is the one who was hit.
